Recording the top score at the annual event was a team from Seaforth. W inners were; pink card high - Nellie Riley; white card high - Betty Grenier; pink card low - Margaret Cole; white low - Mr. Hien and lone hands - Annie Finkbeiner. Several draws for door prizes were made with winners being Irene Finlayson, Gladys Cqleman, Alice Fe Pearl McKnight, Mrs. Bob McGregor, Hilda Payne, Mary Broadfoot and Evelyn W odunan. Another party is planned. for Tuesday, April 22. Everyone is weleorjne. Carmel Presbyterian Church would like to remind everyone of their Daffodil Tea and Bake Sale at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 12. Everyone welcome. SHUFFLEBOARD A good number attended Shuffleboard on Thursday, March 27. It is hoped there will be two more courts in the near future. The high scorers were - Dave Kyle, 297; Betty Grenier, 348; Ida Dickert, 343; and Ernie Chipchase, 304. NORTHCREST NEW S Gwen and Wayne Lashley of Ottawa visited with grandmother Hazel Luther for the weekend. Lois and Clarence Duchanne from Kitch- ener visited with her father Joe McLellan and mother of Queensway on Easter Sunday. Ida Dickert is spending a few days in Toronto with her granddaughter Robin McLellan. Visitors with Glen and Pearl McKnight over the Easter holidays were son Jack and wife Raye of Ottawa. Mary and Don Gravett and family of Hanover visited on Sunday. Mabel Shirray spent the weekend with son Doug and wife Karen and family in Tavistock. PRESBYTERIAN NEWS Carmel Presbyterian Church, Hensall celebrated its Easter Sunday service March 30. Carolyn Love was at the organ. The choir sang "Christ Arose." Rev. Kenneth Knights sermon was based on "The Prince of fife." PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH WOMEN The Presbyterian Church W omen met in Seaforth on Monday, March 24 for a noon luncheon then met at the home of president Margaret Hoggarth for worship and busi- ness. Margaret Hoggarth was in charge of the Easter message worship. Ladies are reminded of the April meeting on Monday, April 7 at 8 p.m. in the Church basement. Roll call to be answered by a "Spring Cleaning Hint," Mrs, Laird Mickle spent Good Friday with her son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. William Mickle, Exeter; and Easter Sunday • with her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Ross MacMillan and family in Waterloo. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Mickle, Exeter, and Mr, and Mrs. Randy Pollack and Mr. John Mickle, London visited on Saturday evening with the formers mother, Mrs. Laird Mickle. Church is filled for Easter Family Service The very beautiful Easter Sunday saw the United Church filled for their Easter Family Service. The front of the church looked like a garden with the many beautiful flowers of Easter Lily's, daffodils as well as special memorial flowers placed in loving memory of Jean Rowdiffe and also by the Hensall Horticultural Society. Claire Hoffman greeted the congregation and the Junior and Senior choirs led m the ministry of music, The Junior Choir, under the direction of Mr. McDonald sang. The boys chorus consisted of Jonathon Corbett, Shane Pepper, Chris Smith and Shawn W urm taking the solo part and the girls chorus consisted of Mindy Bell, Tara Pepper, Angela Gould, Cathy Corbett, Victoria Bisback, Danielle Lambert and Lauri Gould taking the second part. The Senior Choir, directed by Belva Fuss sang as well. Mr. McDonald spoke on the subject of "I saw the Risen Christ and It wasn't Even Easter." The congregation were reminded that the Annual Beef Barbecue will be held on Wednesday, April 9 and that Baptismal Service will be held on Sunday, April 20. Rev. McDonald attended the 40th W ed - ding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Johns in Kirkton Community Centre on Sunday afternoon and also was dinner guest on Sunday evening at the home of his sister and brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Chester Earl at Atwood. SUNRISE SERVICE Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. at the United Chutvh saw more than 120 people awakened to the cries of "Christ is Risen," "The Tomb is Empty" as the young people of the congregation presented a drama -worship re-enacting the fust Faster morning. Playing the part of Mary was Diane Stebbins, and the other woman who went to the tomb with her to annoint their Lord was played ty Pam Gackstetter. Playing the .part of Peter was Bevan Moir and John was played by W ayne Scotchmer. The leaders for the service were Elizabeth Thompson and Tim Brock who read the scriptures and led in prayer. Joyce Pepper was the pianist for the service and Mr. McDonald dosed the service with a solo -benediction "For God So Laved The World." Following the service, and as part of the Drama, the young people invited everyone to follow them to the Fellowship Hall for a delicious Faster Breakfast served by the Worship Committee under the chairmanship of Boyd Ferguson. IMPRESSIVE SERVICE A very impressive Maundy Thursday Service' was held in the United Church on Thursday evening when the picture of the Last Supper was re-created live for the congregation with the theme for the service "Lord, Is It L." The disciples around the Lord's Table were represented by Hans Gerstenkom as Bartholomew; Bill Stebbins as James The Younger; David . Brock as Andrew; Tim O'Brien as Judas; Chuck Mallette as Peter; Cecil Pepper as John; Murray McGregor as Thomas; Steven Corbett as James; Don Stebbins as Phillip; Stephen McGregor as Matthew; Mervyn Fields as Thaddaeus and Bill Fuss as Simon. Rev. McDonald conducted the service assisted by the choir who sang. For the communion Service the congregation came forward and shared at the Lord's Table. Sharon Wurm greeted the excellent attendance for the service and Fred Elder, Mark McGregor, Michael McGregor and Murray Wareing were the ushers. Queensway residents, catch spring fever Most at Queensway are experiencing Spring Fever. Residents are very anxious to get out of doors and many are getting out thanks to the lovely weather lately. The Hensall United Church ladies ran Bingo on Monday, March 24. Everyone had a very good time and shared tea and cookies following the Bingo. On Tuesday morning the Ceramics Club met. Ill Baker and Judy Parker were here to give their expert instruction. Rev. Kenneth Knight performed the Church Service on Tuesday afternoon. Edith Bell was the volunteer pianist. On Wednesday afternoon the Residents Council met to discuss this months happen- ings and various issues. It was a good meeting with lots of discussion. On Thursday afternoon a group of Rest Home and Nursing Home residents enjoyed five pin 'bowling at Town and Country Bowling Lanes in Zurich. Muriel Gunning bowled the ladies high score and lloyd McDougall bowled the mens high score for this month. Thursday evening the Hensall Beavers and Cubs visited Queensway to deliver Faster Baskets filled with delicious treats: They also entertained with a few songs. later Thursday evening several residents enjoyed the movie presentation entitled, Flying Deuces featuring Laurel and Hardy.
