,Guild hears Easter poems

The Easter meeting of Melville Presbyter-
ian Women's Guild was held in the church
parlor with 19 members present.
Eluned McNair was in charge of the
devotions, and opened with several Easter
poems. Easter hymn,s were sung with Helen
Elliott at the piano. Rose Marie Bishop led in
Prayer.
I. The Easter message entitled "Good or
Grim" was delivered by Isabel Adams.
Kathleen Semple took charge of the
business. Plans to cater to a 60th
anniversary dinner and Open House were
discussed. May 28 was chosen as the date
for the annual May Time Supper. A lunch
was served by Eluned McNair, Isabel
Adams, and Rose Marie Bishop.
SENIORS MEET
The Brussels Senior Friendship Club met
recently in the Brussels Legion Hall. Alice
McAleer opened the meeting. The business
period consisted of a motion by Verna
Tunney seconded by Mary Yuill that the rent
be paid.
The zone rally will be held in Goderich,
Wednesday, April 16. There were 10
members who offered to go. It was moved by
Gerald Exel and seconded by Melville
Jacklin the next meeting be held April 23.
Euchre was played with seven tables.
There was one table of Uno. W inners of the
euchre were: high lady, Esther McCullum;
high man, Stanley Alexander; low lady,
Mary Yuill and low man, Fred Thuell.
NURSING HOME NEWS
The Anglican Church people held the
weekly church service Sunday at the
Callander Nursing Home. Ruth Hinton
entertained on St. Patrick's Day. A tea was
also held, Ella Graber made tea biscuits.
The residents played cards- on Tuesday.
Lottie McCutcheon was out for lunch with
. Judy Hahn.
- The Blyth Singers sang and visited with
everyone`Wednesday. The residents held a
"Hat Day" on Thursday. Residents and staff
showed off their Easter bonnets with first
prize going to Ethel Fischer. Fred Thuell and
his group entertained in the evening with
their old time music Which everyone enjoys.
Jack Stewart of Oshawa visited his parents
Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Stewart. Anne Smith
played hymns on the piano Friday morning
and the Discussion Group met in the
afternoon. In the evening Rev. Zehr and his
congregation, held their monthly service.
Mrs. McCutcheon was out for supper with
her granddaughter Michelle Blake.
The Home is very attractively decorated
for Easter.
UNITED CHURCH NEWS
The Brussels United Church held a Good
Friday service at the church. On Easter
Sunday an extra special service was held.
The worship celebration for Match 30 was
Praise Our Risen Lord. Alleluia. The
celebration of the Lord's Supper was held.
The Easter Cantata by the church was The.
Seven Last Words of Christ.
Thanks and appreciation were extended to
the organist, choir director, church choir for
the Cantata and music and to the following
-Soloists George Cowan Murray Hoover,
Bonnie Jacklin and Lynda Thomas.
PEOPLE WE KNOW
Helen Elliott has returned home following
a visit with Mr. and Mrs. John Elliott of
Hanover.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hemingway visited
with Karen Phillips and family of Aylmer.
Mr. and Mrs. Bruce McCall and Mr. and
Mrs. Clem McLellan were among the guests
at the 40th wedding anniversary party held
for Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Beggs of RR 3,
Embro.
Bill Clark of Pickering was a visitor with
Mr. and Mrs. Alvin McLellan and family.
Fran Exel spent Easter with her parents
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Exel.
Easter visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Carson
Watson were John, Wendy and Matthew
Watson.
Reg Watson of Wroxeter is a patient in
University Hospital, London. We wish him a
speedy recovery.
Sunrise service features special reading

Easter lilies and other appropriate season-
al symbols, decorated the sanctuary of Knox
United Church on Easter Sunday morning.
The Sunrise Service, which was conducted
by Rev. John G. Roberts, began with special
Easter responsive readings. These were
followed by a choral reading and a dialogue
presented by members of the Youth Group.
Faster hymns, accompanied by the organist
Elizabeth A. Procter, were interspersed
thoughout the inspirational service.
A delicious breakfast, prepared by the
ladies of the church, was enjoyed by
approximately 75 worshippers following the
service.
W EEKLY EUCHRE
Twelve tables were in play at the weekly
euchre held in the W omen's Institute Hall,
Wednesday, March 26. Winners were; high
lady -Mrs. Norman Coultes; novelty lady -
Mrs. Wilford Caslick; low lady- Agnes
Bieman; high man - Jim Coultes; novelty
man - Herb Clayton and low man- Mrs.
Garner Nicholson, playing as a man.
There will be euchre this Wednesday
starting at 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Walton was well attended for the Easter
morning service. Greeters were Jim and
Linda McDonald. Organist was Elva W ilbee.
. Ushers were Paul McCallum, Murray
' Dennis and Jim McDonald. Bonnie Lamble
was in the pulpit speaking on the ""Life and
I worts of the church." Solos were given by
Gloria Wilbee and Don McDonald.

4-H MEETING
The sixth and final meeting of Walton 1.
4-H dub, Happy Hostesses was held March
t 24 at the home of Pat Nolan. Discussion
t centered on how to refuse a date,
communicating between you and your date
and introductions.
Members then talked about graduation
proms and formal dances. Final arrange-
ments have been made for the Achievement
program for April 30, at 720 p.m at the
Brussels Arena.

Mr. and Mrs. Les Lurst returned to their
home in Dodsland, Alberta an Thursday
following a months holidaying with the
Mitchell families in the surrounding area
Donnie Sills of Seaforth has been staying
with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Rally
Achilles while his parents are holidaying in
Admen, runny Achilles and Karen Acheron
spent the Easter weekend at the same home.
Thursday evening Phyllis Mitchell enter-
tained her Monkten paint dass to' a supper,
later working on their paint class.
The Institute ladies will serve a noon
luncheon this Wednesday.

The Huron County Juniorr Associa-
tion congratulates Linda Wim, Rob
Essay and Janice Murray. These three
people attended the Mardi Conference this
year in Landon and were rewarded for their
Junior Farmer works.
Linda Axtmann will be attending the Great
Lakes Social Recreation Camp in Michigan;
Rob Fssery will be travelling to West
Germany; and Janice Murray is the delegate
who is being sent to Indiana.
The travelling exchange priegrarnmes
provide unlimited opportunities for Junior
Fanners to travel to other provinces and
