Golden Bears off
to OFSSA again
The Seaforth District High School's senior
boys basketball team is doing a great job
keeping up the precedent it set for itself some
time ago, as it captured yet another WOSSA
A title over the weekend. The Golden Bears
have won six of the last seven WOSSA A
titles.
"The boys were pretty determined. Their
goal was to get to OFSSA." said coach Tetry
Johnston,
"We had finished third in OFSSA last year.
The boys felt they could have won last year if
they'd applied themselves a little better," he
said.
John McCowan, with 28 points and Greg
Murray, with 21, led the Bears to the 68-62
win in the W OSSA finals, over the Parkhill
North Middlesex Marauders. Ron VercrUys-
sen added another 10 points.
Leading up to the final, the Bears beat St.
Thomas St. Joe's 59-58, in the semi-finals.
Greg Murray scored 30 points in that game
including the.winner, when theRams missed
a shot in the dying seconds.

Petites blanked
The Seaforth Petites travelled to Stratford
, on Sunday, March 2. The Stratford Ponder-
osa
onderosa took advantage of home ice with an 8-0
win over Seaforth.
Either because of spring fever or the long
drive to Stratford, most of the Seaforth girls
were in stow motion. Seaforth had the ring
enough, but just couldn't buy a goal.
Stratford took advantage of four penalties
taken by Seaforth to end up with eight goals,
