Mr. and Mrs. Doug Kirkby have returned
home from a month's holiday, touring
Australia and New Zealand.
Guests with Ruth Thamer on Sunday were

with his grandparents, Mr, and Mrs. Rolly

Hibbert Council approves 1986 salaries
Hibbert Township Council recently passed
a motion setting some of the salaries for
township employees,
Council honorariums were passed as
follows: Reeve Roy Swart, $1,150 per year;
Deputy Reeve, Walter McKenzie, $1,050 per
year and councillors Tom Schoonderwoerd,
James Paratchek and Florence McPhail will
receive $950 per year.
A mileage rate of .37 per mile was set.
Council members will be paid $47 for half day
extra meetings. The full day rate was set at
$85.
Council also passed a motion that the Clerk
be paid $30,000 per year for 1986.
Road Superintendent Gary Kemp's salary
was set at $26,500 per year for 1986.
Flank Elliott, Township Operator's salary
was set at $10.04 per hour, time and one, half
after 55 hours in any one week, time and one
half for working on statutory holidays and
time and one half for Sunday work. He will
also receive 50 per cent Blue Cross Basic
Plan, 75 per cent OHIP, 50 per cent OMERS
and a guaranteed 44 -hour week.
Council also set the rate for part time help
at $8.25 per hour for 1986.
Council passed a motion to pay the office
caretaker $5.40 per hour, the landfill site
worker $5.15 per hour and the hall caretaker
$50 per month.
DOG TAG ISSUER NAM ED
Michael MacRae of Dublin was appointed
dog tag issuer at last month's meeting.
Council will pay him $2,25 per tag issued.
COUNCILISSUES GRANTS
Council passed a motion to make the
following grants to local organizations:
Cromarty Boy Scouts, $100 and the Royal
Canadian Legion Branch 128, Mitchell, $35
for their annual public speaking contest.

Mr. and Mrs. lloyd E. Regele of RR 1,
Princeton and Mr. and Mrs. Harold McCal-
lum of RR 1, W alton visited on Saturday with
Idella Regele and Norman Hubley at their
home in Seaforth.
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Ward of RR4, Walton
Teachers granted
Teachers in the Huron -Perth Catholic
schools will have nine professional develop-
ment days for the next school year.
While that may sound normal, the Catholic
school board did cut back the number of
professional development (PD) days to eight
for this current school year.
Both the Huron County and Perth County
boards' of education have nine professional
development days per school year.
Last year, the Catholic school board rolled
back one PD day because they felt the

Five will be in -school and will deal with the
planning of the school year, parent interviews
or reviewing the past school year.
Three of the remaining four days will deal
with reading skills. The one day left will focus
on the prevention of sexual abuse.
