The Majestic Women's institute held a
euchre party on January 7. There were II
tables of card players.
The high lady prize went to Leona
McDonald as well as the travelling lone hand
prize. Albert Qtfipp was high man. W inners
of other draws were Jim Bowtnan, Jim Mair,
lank Bowman, Jeanne Ireland, Tom MacFar-'
lane, Bernice MacFarlane, W ilfred Short -

euchre party sponsored by the Majestic
Women's Institute will be held on Tuesday,

The Majestic Women's institute held their
Edtjeat4on-and Cultural Activities meeting
last Wednesday, Leona Armstrong and
Margaret McLeod were the committee in
charge, There were 13 members present.
Peggy Cndmore read "New Year's Resolu-
tions." Thank you notes for the Christmas
boxes were read. Members were asked to
save Zehr's tapes. The money is to go
towards repairing the chairs in the library.

Town and Country Homemakers at this time..
The Majestic Women's Institute is to look
after the birthday party for the Callander
Musing Home residents on January 23.
Edna McLellan, Peggy Cudmore and
Margaret McLeod make up the committee in
charge of the birthday party.

On Saturday, December 28 a birthday
platy was held in the craft room of the
Callander Nursing Home to honor one of its
residents, Bessie McC'utcheon. She was
celebrating her 85th birthday.
Marie McCutcheon, Kathy Workman and
llelen W heeler, along with their aunt Bessie,
entertained many relatives and friends.
Everyone enjoyed the plum puddings at
Sunday dinner brought in by Isabel Pearson
and Jean Evans.
On Monday Eva Stewart's family visited
her on her birthday.
A New Year's Eve Party was held with
Violet Heibein, Mary Stretton and Dawn
White in charge.
Stella W inn visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Hayward on New Year's -Day and Pearl
Stevenson spent New Year's with her family,
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Nichol. Donald Dunbar
entertained at the piano in the afternoon.
Kay Cathers visited with her father Jack
Cat hers,
Ann Stnith played hymns on the piano on
Friday and everyone rested after the busy
holiday season.
Ivy Kelly has returned home from the
hospital and is recuperating well.

The Arena Board held a Family Skating
Party on Saturday night, January 11 at the
Belgrave Community Centre.
11 was 25 cent night and admission included
a hot dog and hot chocolate. There were over
200 in attendance and 15 dozen hot dogs were
consumed.

UNITED CHURCH WOMEN
The January meeting of the Evening Unit
of the United Church Women was held at the
home of Dorothy Logan with 17 members
present. •
The meeting was opened by Mrs, Hobert
Grasby. After the business period, Laura
Johnston and Mrs. Clarence Yuill led the
worship service. The program was given by
Mrs. Harold Vincent assisted by Mrs. Sam
Pletsch and Dorothy Logan.
A social half hour followed and lunch was
served by Mrs. George Michie and Mrs.
Leslie Vincent.
