With . Christmas only a couple of days
away, the President of the Seaforth Legion
and the President of the Ladies Auxiliary
would like to take this opportunity to say a
few words of greeting. -
"On behalf of my wife Betty, I would like
to thank the members of the executive,
ladies auxiliary and the rest of the
members of Branch 156, Seaforth, for your
kind support in the past year. I would like
to wish all a Merry Christmas and a Happy
New Year in 1988," said Jim Watson.

At the meeting held last Thursday even-
ing, Gladys Curtiss was initiated into the
Branch. In other business two requests for
donations • were left for the January
meeting: It was felt a report of their finan-
cial status was in order to determine the •
amount needed. The meeting for January
will be held a week later than usual owing
to a prior booking of the hall.
In the early birds campaign the Seaforth
Legion is now 81 per cent paid up with
another 10 days to go: There are a number
of membership cards. waiting to be picked
up.
The tickets for New Year's Eve are
available at the Branch and from
Optimists give $10,000 donation
The Seaforth Optimist club made a recent
donation of $10,000 to start off the local
Hospital Building Fund. Ken Coleman and
Peter Willems made the cheque presenta-
tion to Marlen Vincent, chairman of the fun-
• draising'committee. •

Chrishnas is just another day at Scott
Memorial Hospital and activities con-
tinued on, a 24 hour a day basis over the
holiday season. "If there -was any dif-
ference it was that we were busier than
usual," Mrs. V. Drope the hospital
superintendent said.
Increasing demand of accommoda-
tion at the hospital is part of a trend
that has been aliparent for some time,
board 'members were told as they con-
sidered • November occupancy reports.
Miss Drope said occupancy in medical
and surgical reached 12$1 per cent of
authorized accommodation during
November.
There will be a great big bon fire in
Seaforth next week. The Chamber of
Commerce, in cooperation with the fire
brigade, is sponsoring a Christmas tree
clean up, and trees collected across
town will go up in smoke on Saturday
night, Jan. 5.
. The Optimist club also made a presenta-
tion of $300 to the Seaforth Ringette Associa-
tion. Presenting the cheque to Debbie Rau •
was Jack Bedard.
In other business the Optimist club in-
ducted the following new members into its
organization; Dennis McCaulley, Dave
Whyte, Clendon Coombs and Mark Smith.
Awards were given out to the following
members of the executive; Jack Bedard,-
past

Steve Gray, secretary.

again.
The last stag euchre for the year will be
held December 23. The prizes are turkeys.
