The Hensall and District Horticultural
Society hosted a successful bus trip last
Monday. Thirty-five members, and guests
enjoyed an. entire day jam packed with
sightseeing, shopping and of course, eating.
, The first stop was the Wellington County
' Museumnear Fergus followed by a late
lunch at the Old Schoolhouse restaurant
near Elora. A tour guide joined the group at
' this point. and led them on a tour of the Elora
'Gorge and other local points of interest.
The next stop was the Silo Gift Shops in St.
Jacobs, and then a delicious dinner at the
Stone Crock.
UNIT III•
The October meeting of Unit III United
• Church Women was opened with the poem
"I Would Give Thanks,", the theme song
. and prayer. Mary Brintnell presided.
.•Vera Ross conducted the worship on the
• theme "Song of Thanksgiving". The
'members replied to the roll call by telling
their place of baptism and also the name of
the minister.
This Unit will be hosting a Bazaar and
•-Bake Sale -and Tea on -Friday-, November -N-
at 3sp.m. in the Fellowship Hall at the United
Church. Plans were completed for the
church decorations for Thanksgiving
Sunday.
A report was presented on the Fall
Regional held recently in Grand Bend. An
• invitation was received from the Credition
UCW to their Bazaar on October 17,10 a.m. -
4 p.m.
• Erla Coleman gave the study -"People
forced to flee land to make room for coffee."
• Dorothy Brintnell gave a reading "Every-
day Thanksgiving."
The members were reminded to bring a
gift for Friendship House. The meeting was
closed with prayer Hostesses were Erla
Coleman and Maig Cole.

The Walton area Sports Club held its mon-
thly meeting on October 7.
It was decided to sell tickets og, a four
wheeler with the draw to be, made on
February 7, 1988 at the annual poker rally.
The next -meeting will be held at the home
• of Ernie Lewington on November 11, at 8
p.m.
The club's -first bingo was held last Friday
night with these winners from Walton area,
Mary Humphries, Pearl ,McCallum, Karen
Hoegy, Don Nolan, Marilyn McDonald and
Ernie Lewington.
There were more people in attendance for
the second bingo on Friday evening in the
Brussels Legion, October 9, at 8 p.m. Win-
ners were for the first game, Ross Duncan,
• second:game, -Mary Lowe, third game, John
Lowe ,'• fourth game, Edith WarWick. First
'Special game of $75 was won by Mrs. Elunid
McNair, fifth game, Donna Knight and
Pearl McCallum. sixth aame, Kay Rish,
seventh game, Eileen Jorgensen and'Bev
Bentley, eighth game, Kay Duncan.

Mary Bradshaw, ninth game went tc

Hudisser, and the fifty-fifty draw of $33.7f
went to Eleanor Mason.
There will be another Bingo this Friday
night at the Brussels Legion, doors open at
7:00 p.p. Bingo starts at 8 p.m.
WI NOTES •
The monthly noon luncheon will be held
Wednesday, October 21. The regular Walton
Wornen's Institute meeting on International
Affairs is the same evening called for 8:15-
p.rn.
The monthly euchre sponsored by the In-
stitute is scheduled for Thursday, Octeber,
22 at Ilsp.M, Lunch will be served.

Peter Pryde.
The Junior Choir under the direction of
Debbie Wood performed "Thank You. for
Loving Me".
Junior Minister Jonathon Corbett read the
Bible lessons, and Rev. Doug Wright gave
his sermon on Thanksgiving. The Senior
Choir joined in singing "When the Harvest is
Past.'
Coffee and Tea was served downstairs in

had a roaring good time.

Sunday with Susan's parents Don and Lois

On Friday, October 9 Reeve Jim Robinson
declared the week of • October 17-24, 1987 as
Week of the Child in the village of Hensall.
• Brochures were handed out to the children
to be used as "Point Collector Sheets" by
the children who participate. in the ac-
tivities. The two top point collectors in each
holds successful bingos
Monday, October 3 were Helen Craig,
Margaret Shortreed, Maxine Marks and
Betty McCall from the Walton Branch.
Isabelle Shortreed and Jack Warwich at-
tended the wedding of their 'nephew Paul of
Blyth to Virginia Honderieh of New Ham
burg at the Zion Church, New Hamburg on
Saturday, October 10. Ken and 'Judy Shor-
treed were also guests at the dinner and
reception at the New Hamburg Community
Centre.
Returnina home from hospitals this past
week were Viola Kirkby from Stratford, and
Nelson and Annie Reid, from Seaforth. It's
nice to have them back to our village.
Spending Thanksgiving with 'Walter and
Jenny Hendrick in Kitchener were Clint and
Judy Eminrich, Jamie and Katie and Ruth
Thamer. Ruthie Thamer, Kitchener was
home for the weekend and spent Monday at
the same hcime.

The October meeting of the SL Columban
Catholic Women's League was held on Mon-
day, October 5 with president Margaret
O'Reilly presiding. , •
Correspondence read by Glenda Murray
included invitations to the St. Ambrose
C.W.L. Christmas bazaar in Brussels on
December 5 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.; 'St.
Patrick's C.W.L., Dublin to their bazaar on
October 21 at 8 p.m. and from th Im-
• maculate Conception C.W.L., Stratford to
their Harvest Bazaar on November 14 from
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the church hall on Well
St. A letter was read from Bishop Rouleau of
the • Esk-Omi Missions in Manitoba in
gratitude for a donation and one [rain the
family in India the C.W.L. is. helping.
A "Harvest Dance" sponsored by the
C.W.L. will be held on November 14 in the
Brodhagen Community Centre. Please sup-
port by buying tickets and enjoy an evening
out after the fall harvest is completed.
The C.W.L. will also sponsor the McKillop
No. 4 4-H Club with a donation.
The November, meeting will be held on
November 2 at 7:30 p.m. at Goettler's Fur-
niture Store in Dublin.
The meeting closed with prayer followed
by a social hour.
SPECIAL MASS
A special Mass of Thanksgiving was of-
fered on Friday, October 9.at St. Columban
Catholic Church by the school children and
said by Father Sipek.
