Sealforth'. and District High School 'welcomes new teachers
Another school'year has only just begun
and already everything at the. Seaforth
District High School is in full'swing. Tests
have 'been written, assignments have been
-given, atuderit council is busy with its plans

NEW FACES
There are several new faces around the
schoolthis year. Three were know
previously by the school and community
. and one is entirely new.

student lists: Any parent who would be in-

Buryl Wilson has returned to the school's
English department after two years at
South Huron District High School. He also
taught at FE, Madill Secondary School. The
variety pf teaching experiences Mr. Wilson
has enjoyed give him a solid'baekground.in
teaching: English and the • wide variety of
' ways this can be done effectively. It is. hoped
Mr. Wilson will provide students with many
opportunities to develop their English skills
through his interest and expertise.
Jill 'Johnston is the.' new Area: Resource
Teach andcomes to the'school once a week
to asist students with special needs. She will
be working with students -with learning dif-
ficulties and with the enrichment program. .
Staff hope her interest in. the success of the
students will insure a positive response
from them.
STUDENT PLANS
Student Council's plans for the year are
well underway thanks to the encouragement
of staff advisor Jim Howard; and the hard
work of the executive. This year's executive
include: Rhonda Farag, president; Peter
Vanslyke, lst vice-president; Paul Ryan,
2nd vice-president; Laurie Crocker,
secretary; Lisa Preszcator, treasurer; and
Jean Ryan, social convenor. • •
The first scheduled activity was a'Grade '9
Welcome Day on Friday, September18..The
morning consisted of a program organized
by Howard James, Head of Guidance, which
provided information on services available
to students within and outside the school,
The afternoon consisted of a, weiner roast
and a series of fun activities for the Grade 9
to the challenge of improving, theirperfor-
mances. The band executive this year con-
sists of: Dana Kloss; president; Jane Ander-
son, vice-president and Lisa `;Strong,
secretary -treasurer. The girls and the Band.
Booster look forward to the continued sup-
port by the community and school of this in-
ternationally known group. '
DISCUSS ISSUES,
This year Mr. Empringham 'and Vice-.
Principal Jim Moore will be inviting parents
for Today. This is a county -wide effort with
a steering committee representing all
Huron County High School. It will be chaired
by Terry Johnston, head Of Physical Educa-
tion at Seaforth. Linda Doig and Terri Brint-
nell are working on the in -school program
for Seaforth, which will cnosistof speakers,
films and class activities focussing on
education. Parents. are welcome at any of
the activities. Some will be scheduled in the
evening to make attendance easier.

this year. Aside from new kindergarten classes, new"students include, from left. Brock '

Now's the time to take an autumn stroll.

the 3rd Annual 'Fall Color Tour' to -be held
Sunday, October 4 from 1 to 4 pm at the
Wawanosji Valley Conservation Area.
Visitors to Wawanosh will enjoy horse-
drawn wagon rides Over the rolling hills of
the property followed by a guided hike
through a hardwood bush alive with fall col- .
ors. They can end their visit with a
refreshing taste of hot apple cider. Plan to

The Wawanosh Valley Conservation Area
is located southwest of Wingham, 2 km west
of Hwy. 4 on concession VI -VII of East
Wawanosh Township.

tional Welsh Musical Festival.
