night Friday
Sunday, September .13 was the start of
Legion week across the Dominion of
Canada. This week primarily was to try and
have the public focus its attention on what
the Legion has accomplished and its alms
for the future as well.
We all realize the age of the average
Veteran is now between the years of 65 and
70 and in 10 years time the ranks are going
to be depleted to a very serious state as far
as membership is concerned. This is the big
reason Leader in their wisdom ,Introduced
sons and daughters to the membership to
be known as Associate members, Who, but
sons and daughters would Have In"te`est at
heart of the Legion. Some Branches have
been very successful with the new member•
ship while others have not. With a good ma-
tority of•the Veterans now retired they find
hey have more -time to offer their services
to the Branch `which in kofne cases belie
made it more difficult Ow the new "nerfibera
to hold a particular office. But as they grow
old and feeble every year, the young
members are going to take over the aims
and responsibilities of the Legion and keep it
the asset that each and every Legion is to its
own community. -
This Friday evening, the Seaforth Legion
is holding a, Frank Phillips night at the
Branch to honor Frank for his contribution
to the Branch over the past 20 years. Frank
retired early this summer after having serv-
ed as 13ar Steward and voluntary Mater for
the Branch with his collection of souvenirs
from the First World War and the Second
War. Anyone wishing to browse around and
view these showcases please feel free to do
so this week. A special mvitattop%extended,
to all members to attend on Friday night
and say thanks to Frank for his contribution
to the Legion. This will be at about 8
