The Sacrament of Baptism was observed
in Knox Presbyterian Church on Sunday,
June 21.
The minister Rev, Steven Webb baptized
Shawn Robert, Melissa Rosalind Marie and
Jonathan David, children of David and
Janet Engel and the infant daughter of Ran-
dy and Lynn (Cameron) Hunt.
Among visitors attending the service and
visiting after at the home of Janet and
David were Mr. and Mrs. Harold •-Humphrey
and David of Lucknow. Donna and Travis
Linde, Ripley, and Mrs. Isobel] England, the
. great grandmother from Lucknow,. Mrs,
Ross Engel, Mrs. John Engel, Pam, and
Keith McLean, Brussels, also were present. .
Visiting John and Mrs. Vanass on June 21
weekend were Ruth Jean Louis • of
Willowdale, Rick, Jason and Mike Hack of
Toronto, and Wendy Fleming, London.
The Smith families attended the Smith -
Baird wedding reception in Chesley on June
20. The+groonr is the son of former residents
Carman and Doreen Smith.
Mrs. Patrick Adams• and little daughter,
of Manotick, spent a week visiting with the
Veitch family.,
Mr. and . Mrs. Ross Engel attended the
Hully, reunion at Monkton on June 21,
Howard Mitchell and family members,
Thorold, spent the past week at his home
here.
B'etty Gensheimer left on Thursday for
Detroit where she will visit with friends
before returning to her home in West Ger-
many. While here she was visited by a
number of relatives and friends including
Mrs. Earl Dunn and Mrs. Elisabeth
Hildebrand, Listowel, Mr. and Mrs. Micky
Maguire and Otto Till, Detroit, and Roy
Berfelz, New Hamburg as well as local
neighbors.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gilks and son, Ron,.
Shelburne, visited Don and Mrs. Cotton on
Thursday.
Joanne Knight, a physiotherapy student
at Western University flew to Saint John,
New Brunswick on Saturday where she is
working on a six week clinical placement in
the Physiotherapy Department of Saint
John Regional Hospital. Joanne is a
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Knight, 14th

Graduation exercises for Grade 8 students
of St, Colrimban School were held on Tues-
day, June 23.
The graduation mass was celebrated at
St. Columban Catholic Church at 10 a.m. by
Father Andrew Sipek.
Following mass awards were presented
to the graduates. Most courteous award
presented by Marion Murray went"te Julie
Cronin; most improved award presented by
George Van Slyck went to Kevin Murphy;
sportsmanship award went to , Stephen
Ryan; top academic femalestudent was
Lisa Murray presented by Agnes Gaffney
and top male academic students award
went to Sean Melady and Craig Murray
were presented by George Van Slyck.
Margaret O'Reilly, C.W.L. president
presented each student with a plaque.
At 7 p.m. the Grade 7 students along with
their mothers and the P.T.A. served a.din-
ner in the church parish hall.
Dean Murray, master of ceremonies
welcorried the graduates and guests and
called on Father Sipek to say the grace.
Following the dinner Mr. Van Slyck and
Mrs. A. Gaffney presented the graduates
with their diplomas and on behalf of the
P.T.A. Ken Coyne presented each with a
class picture.
Knights of Columbus awards for the most
cooperative and willing students were
presented by Don Moylan to Cindy Maloney
and Stephen Ryan. The Dublin Lions award
for best effort was presented by Jim Parat-
chek'to Lisa Murray and Craig Murray mid
Mts. Gaffney presented the attendance
award to Cindy Maloney.
Terry Kelly was valedictorian for the
class and reviewed memories with his
classmates from !kindergarten through to
Grade R.
The evening concluded with a dance in the

Tom and Joanne Melady attended the
Roks Family Reunion at the home of War-
ren and Bernadine Wolfe, Mitchell on Sun-
day, June 28.

Dorothy Delaney on Saturday night. When
the dost had settled the women had whipped
the men in euchre.

wedding and reception of their cousin Mur-
ray Gamble to Marlene Smith in Hamilton
on Saturday, June 27.

Sofia Beyersbergen who were united in mar•
riage en Saturday, June 27 at SL Augustine
Catholie Church, St Augustine.
John and Helen Warren, Chris, Michael,
Justine and Shane of St.. Waltiurg, Saskat-
chewan are spending two weeks visiting
with Clarence and Cecilia Ryan of St. Col-
umban and Cecil and Betty Warren of
Shakespeare and families.
Jack and Margaret O'Reilly attended the
funeral of Cecilia Franklin in Port Rowers on
Wednesday, June 24 and visited with Tom
and Terry Morris of Tillsonburg before
returning horrre.
The St. Columban School staff, their
spouses and Father Sipek enjoyed a social
,evening and barbecue at tfie haute of 'Tom
and Joanne Melady on Friday evening to
end another school year.
Sympathy of the cominumty is extended
to Dennis and Na'ncy O'Reilly on the death
last week of Naacy's Mother, Cecelia
Franklin.

PEOPLE VACATIONING
Kendra'Shortreed is spending this week at
the Presbyterian Camp at Kintail.
Mrs. Bev Stevenson, Ron and Chris
visited for a few days with Fred .and Kaye
Stevenson, Dana, Vance and .Judd at
Whitby.
On Father's Day, June. 21, Gail Searle of
Brampton, Gordon and Mary Saunders of
Royal Oak, Michigan visited with Allan and
Alice Searle.
Mrs. Pat Bennett, London spenta few
days with Mary Humphries, they attended
the Bryans — Moore wedding in Goderich on
Saturday.
In last week's issue it 'should have read
Mr. 'and Mrs. Jack Webster, Edmonton,
Alberta were visiting in the surrounding
area. •
We are sorry to report Mr. Webster is in a
London Hospital following a fall Iasi Tues-
day at Mel Webster's home in Clinton. His
many friends and relatives are anxious to
hear of any improvement in his condition.
