SNAKE'APPEAL The annual pet day for Kindergarten and Grade 1 and 2 students
was held June 17 at St. 'Patrick's School in Dublin. The day, started with special guest,
Warren Snider, an employee of a pet store at Kitchener's Fairview Park. Mall, showing
and describing the habits and features of a.snake. Students were asked to bring their
favorite real or stuffed pet°or a picture of one,,to school, as part of the day's show -and -

Walton WI sees slide show on local activities
Wednesday evening the Tweedsmuir
meeting of the Walton Women's Institute
was held in their hall.
Helen Craig' called the meeting to order
with Margaret Shortreed as pianist. The
minutes and financial statement, were read
and a very good report of the noon luncheon
held that day given. Mrs. Craig read a
poem,, "Be the best as. you can" and the roll
call was answered by 11 members: A thank -
you note was. read from the Huron County
Public -Library for the donation, towards the
purchase of talking books, It -was moved to
make a donation to the Butler Project,
Canadian Artist.
There will be no. meeting in July and a
window replacement report is to be brought
to the August meeting. It was moved to have
the Tweedsmuir books micro -filmed. .
The rest of the meeting was turned .over to
convenors Annie Reid and Margaret Craig
who introduced guest, Neil McGavin who
presentedvery interesting slides of local ac-
tivities social functions along with family
gatherings.
A poem, "I mustn't.forget"'was read by
Ms. Reid and Margaret Craig gave the Mot-
to. Pennies for friendship were collected.
Marine Marks reported 'a fridge had been
purchased for the hall.
WALTON II MEETS
The June meeting of Walton II unit was
held at the home of Kathleen Williamson
with nine members present:
Devotions were led by Margaret Bennett
and Margery 'Ritchie. They had a skit on
"The Lord's Prayer": '
'Karen ,Hoegy presided for the, business
and gave out a list of coming events. Sunday
the Masons attended the .morning church
service. The unit put flowers in the church
for June. There was a discussion on the 25th
anniversary of the U.C.W. and the church

Plans were made for the beef barbecue
that will be held this Saturday, June 27.

ABOUT PEOPLE
Mr. and Mrs. Jack, Edmonton, Alberta
have been visiting with relatives in the Var-
na; Clinton and Walton Area for the past two
weeks.
On Sunday friends and relatives gathered
in the Varna Complex•to celebrate the 84th
birthday of Wat Webster, Clinton and Harry
Baker; Bayfield. A special birthday cake
was given by Mr. and Mrs. Jack Webster,
and the birthday guests fittingly replied. 53
were present with guests coming from Lon-
don, Toronto, Walkerton, Seaforth; Clinton,
Ludktnow, Varna, Bayfield and Walton.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bennett, New Market
visited last -Wednesday with his sister Mary
Humphries.
Mary MacDonald, Toronto has returned
home following a visit at the home of
Wilfred 'Shortreed and Margaret, and "other
relatives in the area.
The fifth annual William Hart reunion was
held at the home of Keith and Gloria Wilbee
Sunday afternoon With' 43 in attendance.
They attended from Kitchener, Baden, New
Hamburg, Embro, Woodstock, Seaforth,
Teeswater and Walkerton.
SMITH REUNION
Approximately 65 people attended' the
Smith reunion at the Walton Hall, Sunday,
June 14. They were present from Kitchener, ,
Waterloo, Ethel, Brussels, Blyth; Clinton,
Brucefield, Listowel, Ilderton, Lucan,
Hanover, Kincardine, 'Hamilton, Minden,
Cranbrook family enjoys Australia

Mr. and Mrs. Ross Knight and
their daughter .Nancy Walker had
an enjoyable month's trip recently.
They flew to Hawaii for a few days, then to
Australia. Their daughter Mary Ellen flew
from Auckland and met them in Darwin. ft
was the dry season there with 34 degree. C
temperature.. They went in a bus camping
tour for two weeks from Darwin to Sydney,
And enjoyed other interesting activities.
After Sydney they flew to Christchurch,
New Zealand and rented a motor home and

AREA SPORTS
On June 15 the Walton Area Sport Club
held a planning meeting at the park to
discuss plans for the float entry in the 115th
' Homecoming Parade in Brussels July 4.
The Bantam Boys ball team has new
uniforms supplied by the' Walton Area
Sports Club. Other teams got other equip-
ment they needed:
There'is an added ball game this week on
Wednesday, June 24 at 7 p.m. when the Pee
Wee Boys take on Winthrop.'
The squirt annual tournament has been
changed to August 14-15.
