Stratford •This week at Maplewood Manor residents enjoyed the "summer-like" weather with a trip to Stratford's parks. • •Monday afternoon it was back to bowling as usual at Starlight • Lanes for Pete Tremeer and Edgar Allan.. Monday -evening residents were guests at , a piano recital held at Maplewood, Brenda DeJong and Linda • DeJong very kindly in- vited all of us to attend the recital put on by their students. Along with .family• and friends we were an appreciative audience. A luneh, of squares prepared- by •Brenda and • Maplewood Manor, was served after the ' recital. Residents look forward to future recitals. , On Tuesday morning, although weather looked a little threatening, a group of 16 peo- ple left Maplewood for a planned trier of Stratford. George Yates of Clinton drove the vah and volunteers Anne Downey and Marj Maloney and staff member Frances Breen went aswell. The tour guide was ' Betty Larksworthy -and she expertly directed residents around Stratford and explained all .about Stratford's 'historical buildings, homes and the three beautiful parks., There was a walking tour of two of the parks. A picnic lunch in the Kiwanis Community Cen- tre was delicious. The weather cooperated e• and it was -a lovely day. " - Wednesday morning Deb Melady and Glen Rose offered exercises to the residents. That morning part of it included a fresh air ;stroll. John Pullman particularly enjoyed: :looking at and talking about Glen's motercy- , cle: Afterwards the exercising- continued 'with a game of bean .bagtoss. , At 11 Lin: Wednesday morning Rev. Van Slyke conducted the morning worship ser, vice. Members of the congregation were with him and provided musical accompaniment. . - • Wednesday afternocin Maplewood welcomed the Huron County Bfealth Unit for foot care. It is a service that is greatly ap- preciated and residents thank the nurses for the kindness and attention they gave to each person. They were pleased to see such a good turn out from the conaniunity. Thursday . afternoon Drusilla Leitch helped residents stay fit with a variety. of ex- ercises in her fitness class.. The musical , background "Summer Place" was ap- propriate as it certainly seemed like sum- mer outside. Friday' morning students from S.D.H.S. came for their weekly visit., Residents- are going to miss the students' regular visits as school draws to a close -but know there will Seaforth Manor r • Seaforth Manor residents went bowling or. Monday. The Winner was Lawrence Young. On Tuesday there were exercises, done • with residents. They missed their volunteer school students who help with wheelchair bowling. 'The afternoon was spent watching Otto •the Zoo Gorilla and Return of the Winged Giant Geese. Everyone enjoyed the films. Wednesday afternoon Rev: and Mrs. Jim Van Slyke came for the worship service. Grace Smith accompanied on the piano and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Robertson helped with the singing. Thursday afternoon euchre was played with the help of volunteers. Maplewood Manor residents were guests . Six tables were in play and special guest was Father McQuaid who joined in to play with residents. Winners . were High lady, Margaret Smale; Ladies lone hand, Lucy Bezzo and Consolation Ila Gardner. Mens high, Elmer Baksey; Lone hand, Frank Smale and Consolation, Father McQuaid. The final euchre of the season will be June 11 at 2 p.m. Patrick Ryan extended a -thank you to Mary Nolan, Margaret Lane and Anne Downey for a lovely lunch and prizes. Friday morning five high school students visited residents to play games and to help with letter writing or whatever. In the afternoon residents had a few games of bingo. Thursday morning at 11 a.m. Les Leonhardt, who is retiring, was asked to come join in with residents for a presenta- tion, followed by cake and ice cream. We all wish Les a happy retirement. He is going to „ be missed. PERSONA'S Pat Ryan and Len Bloomfield attended the Egmondeille church sup* ' with Laverne Nigh. Father McQuaid visited friends at the Manor, Marj Maloney visited husband, Harold Maloney. Mr. and Mrs. Don Lamont, Goderich, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Riley of Mactier visited Kelly Lamont. Barb Alexander visited Cassie NicholSon. Mary K. Ryan was out for a day with her daughter, Theresa and husband. Hector and Sandra Vert Tillsoriburg, were in to see Carol Geddes. Mrs. Haste was in to visit Mamie Ross. Verda Cameron was out with her daughter-in-law to Linda Wilson's wedding. She had a nice time and met a lot of old friends. be visits from them over the summer months., ' Maplewood •welcomes Addie McKenzie from Clinton for a week's vacation stay, Ed. Anderson for a convalescent stay and Isa Stanley as a resident Isa was assisted in her move by daughter and son-in-law. Visitors this week were: ' Pete Tremeer and Willy Tremeer's visitor's were Jeff Tremeer, Vicki Tremeer and Ernie Whitehouse. Helen Dallas' visitors were Hazel Mc- Conigal and sister Madeline, Mr. and Mrs. Gord DeJong, Bill DeJong and friend, Mr. and Mrs, Bill Dallas, Mr. and Mrs. Preston Dallas.
