Is The weekend couldn't have been better Or the golfers of the area, Men; women, juniors and seniors were out enjoying their long awaited pastime. With last fall being such a wet one. it has indeed been a long time since golf season. There will be sore muscles and sunburns to show for the early enthusiasm., Crowded conditions are no longer only the curse of city courses. As more and more people discover the game of golf, courses, even in rural areas; will become busier. Golf is unique in that hundreds of people may be playing hundreds of individual games simultaneously, while using the same ty. This "`sharing ' aspect—of—the game d means that proper behavior or "etiquette" is essential 'to the enjoyment of golf. If you have ever played on a course where basic rules are not enforced you'll remember how frustrated you felt. This summer there will be Match Play, the Crown Life Pro -Am, Tournaments locally and at nearby courses, mixed two - balls, and GOLF, GOLF, GOLF. Ladies keep May 11 open for golf; a potluck, cards, laughs and prizes. Men keep May 14 open for golf, cards and prizes. Local 'bowlers end Intertown season BY GEORGE LOVE Murray Bennewies, Neil lieuerman, Erich Matzold and George Love have bowl- . ed this past -season, with Zurich in the Men's Intertown Bowling League. Zurich finished third in the 10 team league, during the regular season and made it to the finals in the play-offs 'before losing to Goderich. Other bowlers on the Zurich team were Jack Fuller, Exeter, Ron Dann, Grand Bend; and Roger Edwards from Stratford. Teams in the league were as follows with regular season points; Goderich II - 829, Goderich I - 805, Zurich - 710, Stratford Bowl Mor -698, Stratford Mikes 1-684, St. Marys - 649, . New Hamburg - 624, Lucan - 5961/2, Stratford Mikes II - 469 and Shakespeare - 418. The first week of play-offs saw the top six teams get a bye while the four bottom teams played to get two winners. New Hamburg and Lucan ousted Mikes II and Shakespeare.. . The next round of playoffs saw Zurich get into action against St. Marys and beat them soundly with scores of 39-9 and 331 -141 for a total of 72% - 23%. Other winners in Ansi. were Lucan over Goderich II in an upset, Goderich I over New Hamburg and Stratford Bowl -Mor put out Mikes I. The semi-finals saw Zurich matched against Stratford Bowl Mor with Zurich completely dominating the series 39-9 and 45-3 to make the final count 84-12. In the other series, it was Goderich 1 vs. Lucan and after ten games it was tied 48-48. A sudden death game was played and Goderich was the winner. The final series was alot closer than the scores indicate but the end result was Goderich I defeating Zurich 32-16 and 32-10 for a 64-32 final score.
