On March 31, Huron Centennial students
in Grade 5, 6; 7 and 8 brought their science
fair projects to school. The school buses
were rather empty.,that day as the parents
transported many science fair projects.
During the last period on Tuesday the pro-
jects were set up. Grade 5 and 6 students
were invited to participate.this year. There
were so many exhibits, the Grade 8s had to
put,their displays in the hall. It was a record
turn out for the school. ,Topics ranged from
cokeacid. tests to a computer -remote con
tolled toy. There were only three computer
Projects: Others had used computers to
make print-outs. Parents and visitors look -
ed at the projects' on Wednesday. Mr Des-
jardine was very pleased with the exhibits:

music by singing the anthem "A' Carol For

The McKillop No. 4 4-H Club "Smart
Slicks" held their fifth meeting on March 31
at Carol Ryan's home and learned about
keeping things in order.
By eliminating, combining, re -arranging
and simplifying jobs, work can be much
easier.
The girls also ' learned about washing
dishes, making beds, how to vacuum and
some tips and other skills on working
around the house safely and properly.

Robert Traut from the Ausable' Conserva-
tion Authorities, was guest speaker at the
Resolutions meeting of the Staffa Women's
Institute, held recently in the township hall.
Mr Traut showed slides and gave an in-
' teresting talk on the value of soil, telling
members people are responsible for the ero-
sion control for the next generation. '

Daynard and thanked by Florence McPhail.
Mrs. McPhail presided for the meeting
opening with the Institute Ode and Mary
Stewart collect followed by a poem "The
Early Days of Spring." Sixteen members
answered the roll call. • ,
Esther Smale gave some, excellent hints
on travelling.
The president, Kay Smale presided for the
business, when a motion was passed to pay
the expenses of a joint 4-H meeting. A short
course on "short order cooking" is upcom-,
ing in the county and Mrs. Smale and Lillian
Douglas, volunteered to go to the training
school.
Doris Miller reported on the District Ex-
ecutive meeting, which she had attended.
She said there would not be a craft table at
the District annual this year but that

Lucie Milne of Mitchell, conducted the
Cromarty church service Sunday and for
her children's story showed a geode, which
is a stone having a cavity lined with
crystals. She said geodes are like people,
you have to look inside to find the good and
the beautiful. Her sermon was entitled
"Where here was God when...?", based on the
story of the widow of Nain.
The responsive reading was taken by Dan
Elliott and the junior choir, with Carol Ann
Scott at the organ, sang, "Something to sing
abbut".

The Marian Ritchie Women's Missionary
Society is invited to the spring thankoffering
meeting of the Seaforth VMS on Wednesday
evening. A congregational meeting of
Cromarty Presbyterian Church will be held
in the basement on Monday, April 13.
