Legion Cenotaph service well attended,
The Legion would like to thank everyone
who came to the Cenotaph on November 11
to participate in the Remembrance service.
The weather was not good but it could have
been worse. It was gratifying to see so many
of the children from the local schools with
their teachers braving the cool weather. We
also thank the Seaforth District High School
band for their participation in the parade.
Members of the Branch enjoyed a delicious
pot luck supper to wind up Remembrance
Day for another year.
On the day the Cribbage tournament was
held, a member paid his or her dues, but un-

Lucknow church
A United Church congregation in
Lucknow has formally requested that the
Huron County Board of Education keep the
Lord's Prayer in the classroom.
The Church's action came as a result of a
controversial court ruling which stated the
prominence of one prayer, such as the
Lord's Prayer, in schools, discriminates
against non-Christian students.
The Ontario Court of Appeal struck down
a section reading: "A public school shall be
opened or closed each day with religious ex-
ercises consisting of the reading of the
Scriptures or other suitable readings and
the repeating of the Lord's Prayer or other
suitable prayers."
Respecting the spirit of the decision the
Ministry of Education has advised boards
that "any readings or prayers must reflect
the multicultural realities and traditions of
Ontario society, and one religion must not
be given a position of primacy."
The official board of the Lucknow United
Church asked that the HCBE consider the
church's opinion when making decisions
about opening exercises in Huron County.
"We strongly feel that this is an important
the game. The winners were: high lady, Col-
leen O'Rourke; high men, Louie Maloney;
low lady, Marjorie Moore; low man, Joe
Delaney; and lucky cup, Cecilia Schoondlr-
woerd. A draw for a picture donated by
Goerge Goettler was Kwon by Marjorie
Moore. An hour of lunch and fellowship
followed.
PEOPLE
Quite a number from Dublin attended the
Mission, Dance in Brodhagen Hall on Satur-
day evening.
The village of Dublin was also a busy spot
on Monday for the Municipal election. Sun-
shine for most of the day really got the
voters out to cast their ballots.
Don and Eileen MacRae called on
Eileen's Aunt Marion and Uncle Erwin
Schneider in Goderich on Friday, to bid
them farewell before they leave this week
for their winter home in Florida.
wants Lord's Prayer left alone
part of any student's life and should remain
as such," said Rod McDonagh, a member of
the church board, in a letter to the board.
