Tammy Nash was a keen player and counts for three points. She got a little help from Dianne Anderson. Another goal came from Marylou McPherson. Susan Gretzky (Hulley) was on a roll and added two goals to the Winthrop tally. She was assisted on those goals by Cheryl McClure, Donna Arts and Deb Mc- Clure. Hyper Marg Flanagan on defence, created a bit of havoc with a sure shot from the blue line. Another star defence player was Janet Nicholson, who scored thanks to Tammy Nash. Commercial Ladies en- thusiasm was down to nil. A bit more spunk would have helped their goalie, Maureen Flanagan, to possibly a lower score. Good luck next week girls. PARR LINE 7 - PERTH 0 Sandi Fremlin engaged in four points for Parr Line assists went to Sandra Wilson and Sueanne VanMiltenburg. Donna Preszcator impressed her team mates on a goal assisted by Bev Shea. Sandra Wilson added a couple more thanks to great passing by Sandi Fremlin and Sueanne VanMiltenburg. Bev Shea got another Parr Line goal, assisted by Estella Wilson and Sandi Fremlin for her goal. A sure shot by Glenda Chaput gave Parr Line their seventh win. Perth Ladies put up a good effort but could not accumulate any goals. QUEENS 4 - JR. FARMERS 0 A shot by Cheryl Kruse put the Queens on the scoreboard Wednesday she was assisted by Jean Haggitt and Pat Koehler. Janice Cairns gave the Queens their second goal, with no help needed. Jean Haggitt added the third goal, unassisted. Lucky 13, Teresa Finlayson scored the fourth and final Queens goal off great passing from Janice Carins and Marg Henderson. MENS BROOMBALL WINTHROP 1- RIVER RATS 0 A bustle of a game. Chances galore by both teams however Winthrop got the break with a tipped in shot by Jim McDonald. Nice passing Fred McClure. ROYALS 1- RED RUSTLERS 1 Art Veenstra had a shot from the blue line and scored for the Royals. Les Falconer helped him on this goal. Rustlers Chuck Dow tied the game up with a comer shot that amazed the whole crowd. GRADS 1- EASY RIDERS 0 Tony Vandenhevel blasted a shot into the net off super passing by Craig Smith. The Riders did not .show their greatest aggressiveness. RAIDERS 0 - DUMPERS 11 Before retiring for the evening Bob Nash got four points. Back up came from Gord Henderson and Dale Kennedy. Little Rick Archambault was on a roll with three con- secutive goals, with help came from John Devereaux, Dale Kennedy and Gord' Henderson. Brett Finlayson amazed himself with his goals. Help came from Colin Young, Murray Houston and Gord Henderson. John Cairns got a hat trick with credit going to Gord Henderson and Brett Finlayson. PARR LINE 1- KNIGHTS 2 Larry Baer scored the Knights first goal, assisted by AI Haid. Joe Vinks snuck in another goal off a great pass by Al Haid. Never too late, paul Gibbings squeezed in a goal for Parr Line but unfortunately they were still one short for a tie. In mens broomball on November 17 at 7:30 p.m. Easy Riders vs Red Rustlers; at 8:20 p.m Grads vs Winthrop; at 9:10 p.m. Raiders vs Royals; at 10:00 p.m. Knights vs Dumpers; and at 10:50 p.m. River Rats vs Parr Line. Atoms edge out Clinton The Seaforth fans at the Atom hockey game on Saturday sure were on the edge of their seats for most of the game. The Seaforth squad hosted Clinton in a very close and exciting game. Clinton's Joey MacDonald scored the only goal in the first period, assisted by Dave Hiltz. Clinton started the scoring in the se- cond with a goal by Kurt Kumm assisted by Joey MacDonald. The Seaforth boys just couldn't get the puck past the Clinton goalie until the 6:32 mark of the second, when Boyd Devereaux scored, assisted by Jason Henderson and Shaun Anstett. By the end of the second period the Seaforth team had evened the score with a goal by Jason Henderson assisted by Shaun Anstett. Going into the third, the game was still anybody's, but the Seaforth boys managed to score two more goals - one by Jason Henderson, the other by Boyd Devereaux, both assisted by Chris Marion. The final score was 4 to 2 for Seaforth. Aces draw trump, down Boomers The Aces drew the trump card as they downed the Boomers for seven big points. Mike Meidinger was top roller for the Aces with scores of 256, 215 and 187 for 658. Deb Bedard also had that magical touch for scores of 267, 222 and 156 for , 645. Deb Novice ringette wins first game Seaforth Novice Ringette Team played its second game of the season on Sunday against Goderich. All girls played an ex- cellent game showing great team work. The game ended in a score of 5-3 for the Seaforth team. Also high was Pat Ryan with 184, 162 and 158 for 504. The Wanderers are on the move as they defeated the Will-Nots 5 to 2. Gary Bedard led the Wanderers bitting for scores of 240, 219 and 186 for a total of 643. Joanne Knight also recorded fine games of 201,197 and 174 - 572 triple. Diane Steep amazed everyone when she bowled a personal best of 201, 162 and 143 for 506. Dave Moody put on quite a show smashing the pins for 271, 223 and 215 for 709 to lead the Will-Nots. Dan Bennewies is still throwing a consistent 600 triple as he hit for 252, 190 and 190 to bowl 632. The Bowl Shippers are trying to put distance between the front runners as they cleaned the Big E's for 7 points. The com- bination ornbination of Deighton and Leonhardt did it again as they totally dominated the pins to the count of 305, 228 and 225 for 775 and 261, 228 and 225 for 714 respectively. Jon Knight led the Big E's attack with scores of 260, 219 and 181 for 660. Carol Bennewies also bowled well with games of 249, 181 and 152 - a 582 total. (It must be the warm-ups on Wednes- day nights'.) Falcons regain first place BY GEORGE LOVE The Falcons regained first place in the St. James Bowling League when they dumped the league leading Cardinals 7-0, in bowling action at Starlight Lanes November 7. Murray Bennewies led the scoring with 238, 223, 293-754; Aire Van Diepen 238, 243-670, and Brian Love 283-644. Cathy Broome had an excellent night with 222, 257, 229-708 for the Cardinals. Sandy Broadfoot had 262.594, and Albert Boven 236-490. The Orioles also carne up with their best effort of the year, to stop the Eagles 7-0. Top bowlers for the Orioles were Gen -y Arm- strong 247, 233, 274-754; Jack Ryan 269, 210 — 653, Harry Den Haan 236-621 and Tom Lane 225-545. George Love was high for the Eagles with 236, 261 — 679 and Marlene Loughnane 223550. The Hawks downed the Blue Jays 5-2 in the third match -up of the night. Dan Ben- newies found the mark for games of 270, 214, 230 — 714; Kevin Broome 237, 230 — 654; Kevin Loughnane 253-545 and Joanne Aubin 208508. Jim Dalrymple bowled 241-627 to lead the Blue Jays attack. Connie Marion 224, 227 — 612; and Karen Hoegy 240-539 also bowled well. Team standings after nine weeks are FALCONS - 40, CARbINALS - 37, BLUE JAYS - 31, EAGLES - 30, ORIOLES - 28 and HAWKS -23. HIGH -LOW DOUBLES The second night of the Walkers Special Old High -Low Doubles were counted from the scores of league play. Gerry Armstrong and Kevin Loughnane bowled a plus 228 on Monday night to move ahead with a plus 280. Cathy Broome and Ken Hunt had a plus 160 for the night to move into second place with plus 255. Jack Ryan and Bert Klass came up with plus 124 and hold third place with plus 199. Dan Bennewies and Rick For- tune had plus 121 for the night and hold fourth place with plus 190. Connie Marion and Karen Hoegy bowled a plus 98 and now total plus 189. Murray Ben- newies and Roxy Hunt combined for a plus 58 and now have a plus 175 total. The re- mainder of the bowlers failed to match their averages and were eliminated from the High -Low Doubles. See -saw battle ongoing in Seniors bowling Thirty-four bowlers were present for the Senior regular bowling. There is a see -saw battle for first place between the Smarties and the Suckers as the Suckers again came out in front with 26 points. Smarties e close behind with 25 points, Mints and bugs are tied with 20 points each, Jee`7I11y Beans have 19 points and Ju-Jubes 16 points. Mervin Dietz captured men's high triple with 595, Art Finlayson had 573 and Bert Walters 562.. Ladies' high triple went to Hazel McGonigle with 596 followed by Ann Wood with 591 and Mary Finlayson 558. Lucky Wintario tickets went to Fuller Dow, Edna Bell, Agnes Lammerant, Edith Dunlop and Helen Dale. Tigers win 34-14 over Zurich The Tigers dominated many of the high scores as they registered a 34 to 14 win over Zurich at the local lanes. The team was led by Neil Beuerman hammering scores of 347, 253, 218, 206 for 1230. Murray Bennewies also had a fine day smashing the pins to the count of 274, 261, 239, 218 and 214 for 1206. Reg Dick had something to say about all of this as he slipped in his own good scores of 261, 243, 2.25 and 203 for 1115. Team captain 011ie Edwards was high man for Zurich as he rolled 240, 232, 226 and 218 for 1099. Frank Palin was their lead-off man putting up good scores of 279, 251 and 214 for 1093. Tony Bedar-d - owner of the Zurich lanes - also had a good day hitting for 259, 226, 220 and 209 for 1089. Petites off to a winning start On Sunday, November 6 the Seaforth Petite Ringette team started the 1988.89 season with a 6-2 victory over Goderich at the Goderich Arena. Scoring in the game for Seaforth were Kelly Rau with three goals, Lisa McKay with two and Michelle I5tue with one goal. Assisting with the goals were Jennifer Marion with two, B.J. Little, Jill Car- nochan, Lisa McKay and Michelle Etue with one assist each. God nrich goal scorers were Karen Har- rison and Jane Henry with one goal each. This year's Petite Squad members are: Julie Agar, Jill Carnochan, Marie Cronyn, Dana Dalton, Kathy Devereaux, Michelle Etue, Lisa Gingerich, Sherry -Lyn Hugill, B.J. Leading the scoring for the Petites was Jennifer Marion with four goals. Rounding out the scoring for Seaforth were Kathy Devereaux, Lisa McKay, Michelle Etue and Kelly Rau with one each. Assists went to: Kelly Rau with two; Kathy Devereaux, B.J. Little, Jennifer Marion and Jill Carnochan with one each. The Stratford goals were scored by Sarah Knight. Seaforth and Exeter played to a 3-3 tie on Sunday, November 13 in Seaforth. Scoring for Seaforth were Jennifer Marion, assisted by Kelly Rau, Michelle Etue assisted by Lisa Gingerich and Kelly Rau assisted by Jennifer Marion. The goal scorers for Exeter were Cara Gardner with two and Leeanne Foster with one. The next game is in Seaforth on Sunday, November 20 at 5 p.m. against Stratford B.
