Jeff Robinson, 16, recently finished his se- cond year of competition in the fair. He took first place with the grand champion market hog, and was second best showman in the junior class on Friday. After placing ninth last year, he took four pigs into this year's competition. About 35 competitors were entered in the class. At the fair, judges look for a well struc- tured pig that is clean, has good muscle tone, little loose skin, and is a good walking pig. "It takes about five months to raise a good market hog," said Jeff. Jeff feeds the pigs the same feed as the others, but cleans them more often. In the junior class competition, the way the pigs are shown is by letting them fun freely in a ring. Helpers are in there to move them around for the judges to see.
