visit Cranbrook

Mr. and Mrs. Murray Crawford accom-
panied by the latter's brother, John.
Crawford and his wife Betty, enjoyed a trip
to Eastern Ontario. During the trip they en-
joyed a visit to the Eastern Breeder's
Association at Kemptville.
Peter Hagedoorn's cousins Aleida and Jan
Van De Vegte from South Africa, and Jack.
and Johanna Jesiveit from Brockville came
to Cranbrook. The last time they had seen
each other was at a family reunion in
Holland.
Jack Conley was admitted to University
Hospital, London on Monday and underwent
surgery on Wednesday. His many friends
wish him a speedy recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. Angus Starr, Shelburne,
were weekend visitors with Don and Mrs.
Cotton.

60TH ANNIVERSARY - Dave and Lavina Watson celebraed their 60th wedding an-
niversary at Queensway nursing home on Sunday. Mr. asnd Mrs. Watson farmed in
McKillop township for 45 years, and were residents of Walton for another 12 before
their eventual retirement .at Queensway two years ago. They have three daughters:
Donna Elaine of Whitehorse, Jessie lone Maier of Thamesford, and Verda Elizabeth of

Queensway couple celebrate
Joyce Pepper joined Queensway Nursing
Home residents as pianist Monday after-
noon for Choir Practice. In the evening
several ladies from the Zurich Mennonite
church assisted as residents worked on
crafts. Everyone enjoyed the delicious
lunch provided by the ladies.
Tuesday Reverend Debra Carter of Cen-
tralia United Church led the worship ser-
vice. Congratulations to Clayton and
Matilda Pfile who celebrated their 66th wed-
ding anniversary. Before lunch was served
they were serenaded with "When you and I
were Young Matilda" and "Let Me Call You
Sweetheart".
Thursday afternoon the Activity room
was the scene of lots of competition. Euchre,
crokinole and dominoes were played.
"Splash" was the featured movie Thursday
evening. It was a romantic comedy about a
mermaid.
Queensway would like to express its ap-
preciation to Walter Knowles, Eileen Ran -
rile and Iva Reid for serving as volunteer
drivers when several residents visited the
Goderich Pioneer Museum Friday. They
had a wonderful • afternoon touring the
museum and then lunched on raisin scones,
tea and coffee served in the museum's
beautiful observatory. Dorothy Elder
visited those residents not on the tour and
gave manicures. This extra special atten-
tion is always appreciated. Thank you
Dorothy.
Congratulations to Dave and Laving Wat-

niversary Sunday, September 25, with an
Open House in the Queensway dining room
with many family members, friends and
relatives present.
Coming events at Queensway are
September 29 at 7 p.m., a Birthday Party
with entertainment by the Brass Bunch.
September 30 at 2:30 is International Day
featuring the U.S.A. and October 12 at 7 p.m.
a party with the Goderich No Notes Jug
Band.

The Resolution meeting of the Walton
Women's Institute was held Wednesday,
September 21 with Marion Godkin calling
the meeting to order. Margaret Shortreed
was pianist. •
Two 4-H leaders, Karen Hoegy and Judy
Glauser were welcomed to this meeting.
The fall club is "Much Ado About Meats".
They have attended the training school and
plan to start the meetings this week.
In the business, Marjory Humphries read
minutes, financial report and cor-
respondence was dealt with. Fourteen
members answered the roll call. Delegates
were chosen to attend the area convention.
November 2-3 and the Rally in Hensall, Oc-
tober 3. It was voted not to have euchre this
season, unless more interest is shown in the
community. An invitation was read from the
Majestic Institute, Brussels to attend their
meeting October 12 at the Public School. A
car load plan to attend.
Convenors Helen Boven and Ruth Art -
mann were in charge of the rest of the
meeting when Ruth spoke on the past, pre-
sent and future of 4-H with a discussion by
several members and 4-H leaders.
Refreshments were served in the basement
by hostesses Mary Humphries and Helen
Craig.
