Eckert acknowledged that having few emp-
ty stores on Main Street has also made a dif-
ference in consumer traffic. •
Hildebrand Paint and Paper reports the
goodeconomy and the construction boom
combined to give that store a successful
summer. Mrs. Hildebrand also remarked
that the full new businesses have been an
asset in attracting people to town, and said
they will continue to do so over the
Christmas season.

Reassessment
• from page 1
Ordinary repairs, maintenance and minor
improvemnts will not increase the assess-
ed value of a property.
Some property changes for example,
that will not be assessed when they con-
stitute the only change to the property
include:
Site improvements - landscaping, re-
tainer walls, driveway finishes (asphalt,
brick, gravel, interlocking stone), fencing;
Miscellaneous structures - utility sheds
under 100 square feet; Built Ins - ap-
pliances, intercoms, central vaccums, air
exchangers, air cleaners, humidifiers,
security systems, electric garage door
openers, window air conditioners, in-
been doing, and remarked that he saw a lot
of Americans and tourists over the summer.
Bob Fisher, owner of Pizza Train and
chairman of the Business Improvement
Association, said he felt that overall it was
an above average summer. The reasons he
sees are the generally strong economy, and
growth in the golden horseshoe which
filtered through to this area.
"And no one got their tax bill yet," he
added.
"Winters are too long and summers are
too short," said Jim Floyd of Petro Can to
sum it all up.
cinerators; Energy conservation features
- solar panels; Exterior improvements -
roofing, skylights, garage doors, sliding
glass doors, windows, sandblasting and
pointing, painting, new siding (except
t
brick veneer); Interior improvements -
painting, floor. covering; Electrical
systems - light fiures (including track
lighting), wiring; Mechanical systems -
replacements or upgrades of plumbing,
hot tubs, saunas; Heating systems -
replacements or upgrades, heat pumps
(replacing existing assessable systems);
Basic structure - cupboards and counter-
tops, closets, ramps and wood decks,
