Kent Murray defeats Queens in first playoff ° Kent Murray defeated the Queens in the first game of the best of three game series by a score of 20-19, with Kent Murray scor- ing the winning run in the last inning of play. Home runs were hit by Joanne Aubin and Marsha Szusz of the Kent Murray team, with Ann Bosman and Bonnie Johnston ad- ding triples. Connie Marion and Ann Bosman also hit doubles to assist in their victory. Top batters for the Queens were Janice Leonhardt with a home run and a double, Hessie Kipfer with a triple and a double, and Kathy Larone who hit a home• run and a triple. Squirt soccer team The St. Columban Squirts finished their season August 30 and were unbdaten for the second straight year. They finished with a 12-1 win over Bryanston in Dublin. Scoring for the Squirts were Larry Kelly, and Jamie Dick with three goals, each Scott Van Dooren with two and Jeff Van Bakel, Chris Verberne, Gary Van Bakel and J.D. Nolan all with singles. Congratulations to coaches Dan Nolan and Casey Van Bakel for another fine year. The Squirts played their preliminary round of the . playoffs on Thursday, September 1 in Dublin against the last place team from Arva and won by the score of 7-1. Larry Kelly and Jared Murray both scored twice with Scott Van Dooren, J.D. Nolan and Jamie Dick getting singles. This win puts the Squirts in the "A" division of the league championship tournament being held in Bryanston September 10. ATOMS The St. Columban Atoms hosted Grand Bend on Monday, August 29 and won by the score of 6-1. Greg Van Bakel fired three goals, Shaun Anstett scored two and Mark Van Dooren scored once. MOSQUITO I The St. Columban Mosq I won their preliminary playoff game against Nairn on Wednesday, August 31 by the score of 6-1. Colin Devereaux fired two goals with Carl Terpstra, Mike Weber, Steve McInally and Scott Vosper scoring singles. This win put the Mosq I in the "A" division of the cham- , plonship tournament being held in Exeter on a3 September 10.
