Hensall resident surprised with parton occasion of 75th birthday

Five members of the Three Links Senior
Citizens Club attended Huronview last
Wednesday and helped to put on a birthday
party for the residents whose birthdays fall
in the month of August.
'Members attending from Hensall were
Dorothy Brintnell, Annie Reid,'Gertie Moir,
Nellie Riley and Hilda Payne.
SURPRISE PARTY
A surprise party was held at the recrea-
tion hall at Paul Bunyan Camp at Bayfield
for Vera Smale who was celebrating her
75th birthday July 31. Guests were present
from London, Toronto, Goderich, Zurich
and Hensel!. Quests presented her with a
purse of money, gifts and numerous cards.
A delicious lunch was served followed by a
birthday cake.
Blanche Chapman of London visited over
the weekend with her sister Hazel Corbett
and both attended their brother's birthday
party. Hugh Morenz of RR 2 Dashwood
celebrated along with many friends and
relatives.
A large crowd was at the Pineridge Chalet
on Saturday evening to celebrate with Don-
na Allen and 'Howard Smale. The two long
time residents of Hensall were married
earlier that day.
BALL PARTY
The Atom Girls Baseball Team had their
year-end party last Thursday evening and
the girls were presented with` individual
trophies in recognition of their finish to the
season as B champs.
Hensall Playground finished up its sum-
mer of fun and games last week with a year -
end trip to Bingeman Park in Kitchener on
Wednesday and a Picnic and Balloon launch
on Friday. Congratulations to all the leaders
for a great summer.
UNITED CHURCH
The congregtaion at Hensall United
Church welcomed their pastor Re erend
Doug Wright back on Sunday. Rev. Wright
told the children how God loves us even if we
make a mistake and are sorry about it.
The sermon was "For the Sake of God's
Holy Name". Door greeter was Glen Hayter
and ushers were Lois Hayter and Jack
Drysdale.
Sunday School will resume on Sunday,
September 11. The first workshop for
assembling craft materials will be Thurs-
day, September 8 at 9:30 at the church.
Anyone with large one gallon plastic jugs
can drop them off at the church anytime.
SHUFFLEBOARD RESULTS
Top Shuffler of the day on Tuesday,
August 16 was Dave Kyle with 465. Dave
Woodward was next with 440 followed by
Eileen Dowson 374, Marg Richardson 361,
Pearl McKnight 359 and John Pepper 341.

time change.
IGHT REUNION
Due to the extreme hot weather, the atten-
dance at the Wright reunion in Kirkton on
August 14 was down. All of those who attend-
ed enjoyed themselves in the air conditioned
hall.
After a beautiful dinner Lorne Ross acted
as president in the absence of Gordon
Wright. The 1989 will be held at the same
place on the second Sunday in August. Gor-
don Wright is to be president and Laurabelle
Reichert secretary with Brian Hardeman in
charge of refreshments. The Spenser Jef-
Frey family is to look after sports. A moment
of silence was held for all of the descendants
who passed away durng the year.
The first family to arrivq,at the reunion
was Orland q, d Laurabelle 1Teichert,,Helen
Hardeman had the lucky chair and Helen
Hardeman was the lady who had prepared
food for the most people. Lorne Rosa had the
most quarters in his 'pocket and Doris Jef-
frey had the brightest fingernails. Orland
Reichert had the most letters in his full
name and Orland and Laurabelle were the
longest married couple. The most recently
married were Judy and Gordon Chambers.
The 'meet your relatives contest' was won
by Ruth May and Spenser Jeffrey. Alex-
ander May guessed the number of pennies in
the jar. Laura and Linda Hardeman guess-
ed the most items inside of an Egg and also
won the word contest.
