More and more ladies into golf
The Owen Sound District Ladies Best Ball
Championship is being played today at the
local course. Women from as far away as
Owen Sound are competing in this two -
woman team format. Handicap allowances
are given so only the best net score on each
hole counts.
This popular format allows individual ac-
complishments and team rewards. It's lots
of fun and the women play for trophies and
prizes. This is one of the first ladies events
of the season and a sure sign summer is
here. There will be at least one ladies golf
'tournament in our area, every week from
now until September. For ladies who like
competition, good golf, and the chance to
play other courses, the tournament circuit is
the answer. Usually for about $25 you get a
continental breakfast, 18 holes of golf, and
dinner ... as well as a chance to win some
great prizes. Each week you play with dif-
ferent ladies and the golf circuit sure makes
the summer slip by quickly.
More women are playing golf now than
ever before. Extra leisure time and more
money in their pockets has allowed many
women the chance to get out on the golf
course on a regular basis. Equipment and
clothing manufacturers cater to this new
market with specially designed equipment
and stylish golf wear. Pros set up clinics for
ladies' instruction and many lady pros are
producing video lessons as well. There are
women working in every area of the golf
business. Managers, pros, even greens
superintendent positions are being occupied
by women. Golf is a game that women of all
ages can play well and enjoy.

STREETSCAPE DESIGNS - Preliminary drawings of proposals for Seaforth's
streetscape project were presented to the people of Seaforth at a public meeting last
week. Ken Buck, the landscape architect who has been hired by the Streetscape Com-
mittee, presented ideas from his firm and the Seaforth public of what Seaforth could
be. The meeting filled the council chambers at Town Hall with people who had both
criticisms and praise for the proposals. K. W. Buck and Associates will take the Infor-
mation they got at the meeting and use it to make a formal conception to be completed
near the end of July and presented to town council for approval. Corbett photo.
