Legion and
auxiliary
install officers
The Seaforth -Legion activities at Branch
156 last week included the joint installation
of officers of both Exeter and Seaforth
Legions, and Amriliaries. This took place
Saturday at the Branch with outgoing Presi-
dent, James Watson chairing the meeting.
The ladies auxiliary served a smorgasboard
lunch.
The new officers for 198889 are: Past
President, James Watson; President, Mel
Melanson; 1st Vice, Gord DeJong; 2nd Vice,
rice Wilbee; 3rd Vice, Everett Felker;
Sgt. At Arms, George Case; Secretary,
Thelma Coombs; Treasurer, Don Eaton;
Service Officer, Cleave Coombs; Chaplain,
Frank Golding; P.R.O. Gord Scott and Pop-
py Chairman, Bill Wilbee; Lynda Gridzak,
Sports, and Betty Felker, Track and Field.
The Executive Committee is Bill Wilbee,
John Lansink, Henry Ziler, Allan Nicholson
and Randy Dayman.
The new executive is wished a very suc-
cessful year; and thanks offered to past
president Jim Watson for a job well done.
The ladies had a very successful dinner on.

Maplewood residents enjoy new shrubbery
This week residents of Maplewood Manor
are admiring the view of the shrubs planted
around the new patio. Everyone is anxious
for the arrival of warmer weather to make
use of their new sitting location.
There was lots of action on Monday morn-
ing when the Grade 11 students from the
highschool came for a euchre tournament.
Residents once again had a great deal of en-
joyment from the visit. In the afternoon,
cards were again in play when the bridge
players got together.
Tuesday residents spent the afternoon
playing euchre and also bridge. As the in-
door activities wind down for the summer,
the residents will soon be participating in
more day trips and outdoor pleasures.
Wednesday –was a busy day for the
residents of Maplewood. It began with the
monthly residents meeting where bus trips
and business matters were discussed. In the
afternoon residents had a fire drill. Fire
Chief George Garrick was in charge of the
evacuation and congratulated everyone on
their quick response. In the evening
residents were entertained by the Rebekahs
who came for a euchre party. The evening
was a great success with six tables in play.
Residents enjoyed the talents of Marion
Rose, when she came to Maplewood to play
the paino. Everyone enjoyed listening as she
played many of their favorite songs. Dull,
dreary weather prompted residents to stay
inside in the afternoon to play a few games
of euchre.
Friday morning volunteer Gail Hills came
to Maplewood to help some residents label
summer clothing. Now the changeover from
winter to summer clothing is taking place
some new labelling has to be done.
Bingo was the activity for Friday after-
noon. Anne Downey came to call the
numbers. Winners of Wintario tickets were
Isa Staley, Anne Agar, and Anna Sherrin.
Thank you to volunteer Anne Downey.
Saturday morning the residents were hop-
ing for sunshine. A bus took them to the
Klompen Feest parade. Thank you to Anne
Downey and Marj Maloney for accompany-
ing the residents.
On Thursday, June 16 there will be a day
trip to Kincardine to the Bruce Nuclear
Plant and the new greenhouse there. if any
seniors in the community would like to go

Seaforth Manor residents model in fashion show
Seaforth Manor residents had a few
games of euchre amongst themselves last
Monday.
Tuesday was a big day, with Shinen's br-
inging clothing in for the residents to shop.
On Tuesday afternoon, Bea Foreman 6f
Shinen's, put on a fashion show for the
residents. Penny Caza, Gladys Ruston,
Maxine Elliott, Edith Jessome, Sharon
Wood and Yenny Dimaline modelled the
pastel shades of summer.
Door prizes, donated by Shinen's, were
won by Cassie Nicholson, Jim Nolan and Ila
Gardner.
On Wednesday the Reverend Bill Barber
replaced Reverend Sadlier for the worship
service.
On Thursaay afternoon Gladys Van Eg-
mond, Wilson McCartney, Stan Hillen and
Elgin Nott, played some old tyme music,
which residents enjoyed dancing to.
Refreshments followed.
Bingo was played on Friday with Dave
Netzke, Frank Smale, Dennis Arney,
Marguerite Shill, Doris Smith, Ila Gardner,
Annie Harrison, Elmer Bakscy, Margaret
Smale and Mamie Ross the winners.

County police forces get funding for enforcement initiatives
Municipal police forces in Clinton, driving through increased enforcement

Mr. Riddell noted that the Ontario Pro-
vincial Police implemented a year-round
