DOWN BUT NOT OUT - Ringette players took on mothers and friends in an exhibition
game Sunday night, organized to commemorate National Ringette Week. Here
defenseman Gail Beuermann is down, but apparently not out, although the younger
team has the ring. Ringette is becoming a popular winter sport for girls. Mcllwraith

WHERE DID IT GO - The young ringette players in town took on their mothers and
friends, but it's hard to tell from this photo just who is happy over this goal. From all ap-
pearances the mother on the left is ecstatic, but she shouldn't be - it wasn't her team
who scored. None -the -less both parties had fun in this game, organized to com-
memorate National Ringette Week. Mcllwraith photo.
Junior Belles win
playoff game
The Seaforth Jr. Belles met Exeter Fri-
day in Seaforth for the first game of the
playoffs.
Exeter came on the ice full force, with the
thought of winning on their minds, and at
the 9:52 mark scored the first goal. Seaforth
fought back andust one minute later Sheri
Kling scored to tie the game unassisted.
The action was fast and from end to end.
At the 7:24 mark Lisa Henderson, fighting
her way down the ice, made a pass to An-
drea Ribey who scored Seaforth's second
goal. Exeter took a tripping penalty which
allowed Seaforth to try their power line. At
the face off Lisa Henderson made a quick
pass to Tammy Nash who blasted the ring
into the net even before the goalie had time
to set up.
The second period also proved to be very
exciting as Seaforth tallied fqr four more
goals. The Seaforth goaltending by Sara
Teall and her defence players kept the Ex-
eter team off the scoreboard in the second
period. The final score Seaforth 8, Exeter 2.
Goals were scored by Tammy Nash with
three, Sheri Kling two, and Melissa Whit-
more, Lisa Henderson and Andrea Ribey
each with one. Assists went to Lisa Hender-
son with three, Tammy Nash with two, Sheri
Kling 2, and Melissa Whitmore, Susan
Rocliffe, Heather McKercher each with one.

This game was quite an improvement for
the Queens compared to the week before,
but they still could not pound that ball into

goaltending scenes set the pace, sure,
steady and easy as you go.

through the first period with a great side
shot from Cheyenne Westlake.

Assisting on the goals were Kim Rau, Janice

Seaforth outplayed Exeter the complete
game, mostly due to strong defense played
by Rau, Kerry McMillan, Robyn Carnochan

was picked it would have gone to the Exeter
goalie.
