Everyone is welcome to attend this event upstairs at the Hensall Arena. Meet the upcoming directors and become involved in the planning of this year's Hen - sail Spring Fair which will be held on June 10 and 11. SENIOR CITIZENS The Three Links Senior Citizens held their regular meeting on January 11 with Presi- dent Evelyn Flynn in charge and Dorothy Mickle at the piano for the opening exer- cises. Twenty-seven members and one guest were present. It was decided to hold another Euchre party on January 25 at 8 pm in the hall, ladies to bring lunch. Happy Birthday was sung and the evening concluded with games of Euc a being played. Winners were: - ladies' high, Mary Broadfoot, 2nd Nellie Rile gent's high, Alf Ross, 2nd Dick Taylor. Lone hands, Percy Campbell and lucky cup Vera Ross. The next meeting will be held on February 9 at 2 pm. OPEN HOUSE The Village of Hensall is having an Open House this Thursday, January 22 to give local citizens an opportunity to bid farewell to retired Clerk Betty Oke. Also meet the new Clerk Luanne Phair and see the newly renovated offices. SHUFFLEBOARD RESULTS Last week's shuffleboard scores were: - Ladies' high, Lorna Spencer 234, Irene Finlayson 215, Pearl McKnight 199. Men's top scorers, Walter Spencer 234, Alf Ross 225, John Pepper 214. NORTHCREST NEWS Margaret Mole was thrilled to have her son Douglas and grandson Bradley arrive from Edson, Alberta for an extended visit. While in the area they will be visiting with family and friends in London, Exeter, Dungannon and Kincardine. CHURCH SERVICE During a lovely service at Hensall United Church on Sunday, January 17, the Children's Choir sang "Child of the Universe" led by Mrs. Debbie Wood. Rev. Douglas Wright and his puppet friend ex- plained to the children that God loves us all just the way we are. Pianist for the service was Jean Jacobi and worshippers were met at the door by Jane Consitt, Ushers were Peter Pryae- Cecil Pepper, Steve Thompson and Doug Kyle. The lovely flowers were in memory of t the late John McDougall. Anyone interested in teen or adult confir- A mation classes should contact Rev. Wright. These classes are also recommended for candidates for adult baptism, persons wishing to review or renew their faith or those wishing to learn more about Christianity. The Huron -Perth Presbytery is sponsor- ing a family of refugees from Loas. The Hensall United Church Women have graciously paid Hensall's share in helping this family get a new start in Canada. The church has been lent several video 'tapes. One set is from our anniversary year and covers such events as the Garden Par- ty, Marriage Vow Renewals, and the Tree Planting. Thanks to Bill Gibson for making these tapes available. Also available is a tape on Raw Materials Economics and Far- ming, thanks to Bill Rowcliffe. These tapes may be borrowed. from Rev. Wright. MAC ENGEL n, 887-6645 The annual congregational meeting for Knox Presbyterian Church will be held on Tuesday, January 26 beginning with a potluck dinner at noon. FORESTERS MEET Canadian Foresters Woodbine M100 met in the Community Centre Tuesday, January 12 with 12 members attending. All the ex- ecutive were present except outside guard Sister Beryl Smith and conductor Brother Ross Mitchell. The minutes were read and adopted. It was decided to have a beef draw again and tickets will be available from any member. During "good and welfare" District Deputy Brother Harry Jacklin presented Brother Jack Conley with a tie pin on behalf of the members of Woodbine M100 in appreciation of being elected Forester of the year for the Western Ontario Provincial Assembly. Lunch, was served by Sister Brenda Perrie, Brother Bill Craig and Sister Nancy Vanass. Court closed in harmony at 10 p.m. LADIES AID The Ladies Aid of Knox Presbyterian Church met at the home of Mrs. Leslie Knight on January 13 with nine members present. Mrs. Stewart Steiss opened the meeting with appropriate readings "Ten lit- tle members" and "Pen commandments of worship". "For the beauty of the earth" was sung and a reading "Beauty" given followed by a prayer. Two interesting poems "New beginning" and "Climb, your dreams come true" were read. The minutes were read by secretary Mrs. Donald Perrie and Mrs. John Vanass gave the treasurer's report. It was voted to make a donation to "Survival through Friendship House" of Huron Coun- ty. Church cleaning and lunch groups were reviewed and changes made. A garage and bake sale with lunch booth is planned for June. HALL BOARD EUCHRE Twelve tables played at the Hall Board euchre on January 15. BETTY McCALL 887-6677 It's that time of year when the weather makes the cancellations of many activities in the community. Even the school buses didn't run a couple of days. The United Church Women's general meeting was held on Monday, January 10. Plans were made to cater to a supper for 85 at the Brussels Agriculture annual meeting on Tuesday, January 19. Both unit meetings were cancelled for this month due to the blustery weather that hit this area last Wednesday. W.I. NEWS This week the Walton Women's Institute is planning for its monthly dinner on Wednes- day, January 20 starting at 11:30 a.m. The regular Institute meeting is the same even - is welcome to attend and hear a member of parliament on "How to prepare a brief or resolution." Doug Richard of Clinton brought the message to the church service accompanied by his wife Marilyn and son. All found his message very interesting and are looking forward to having him back. Father Mooney was also in to minister to the Catholic residents. Wednesday Queensway's Ladle Auxiliary met and reviewed coming events for January. Games took place in the afternoon. Residents enjoyed playing Euchre, crokinole and checkers. Thursday, Joyce Pepper joined residents at the piano for Choir practice. After all the Christmas caroling in December residents were ready to get back to the old favorites. While visiting Al's mother, Ruby Hog- garth at the Blue Water Rest Home in Zurich, on Sunday, January 17, Al and I were happy to attend the open house in honor of Mary Oesch on the occasion of her 90th birthday which she was celebrating that day. Other visitors from Kippen were Bert and Susie Faber. Mary Oesch is an aunt of Susie's. Sophia McGregor has now been moved to the Blue Water Rest Home in Zurich, after spending several months in Exeter Hospital. The Kippen community wishes Mrs. McGregor well in her new residence.
