Walton couple celebrates 50th in Florida
On Wednesday, Mar. 14, Charles and
Bessie Boyd of McKillop Township were
honored at the First United Methodist
Chpreh in Wauchula, Florida on the occasion
of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Plans and arrangements for the dinner and
musical program were made by their
daughters who came from Canada for the
occasion. They were assisted by Dr. and Mrs.
Elver Hodges and the many friends in the
church, The couple has travelled to Florida
for the pas(29 years. Mrs. Boyd is an active
member of the United Methodist Women in
the Ada Parker Circle and Mr. Boyd is a
singer in the choir; and both In their Sunday
Scheel class.
The fellowship hall was decorated with
roses, gerbera daisies, palms, delightful
Mexican paper "fun flowers", peonies and
California poppies made by Mrs. Charles
Cannon and Mrs. Frank Tayntor. These were
arranged by Mrs. F.L. Revell Jr, and Mrs.
Austin Bushaw.
After the meal prepared by Bill Claman, an
interesting program, a musical "this is your
wedded life", was presented by friends,
guests, members of the choir and family,
narrated by son-in-law Ted Bergey. Among
the sing -a -long old time favourites were
songs sung by two quartets. One song
"Wauchula", an original composition, was
written by the Boyd's daughter, Ruth Fisher,
who accompanied Jill Southwell, Eileen and
Virginia Metheny and Carol Lou Franklin.
The other quartet sang a paraphrased

Beth Walton, Ted Bergey and Tony
Cangelosi.
Mrs. Bill Howard sang "1 Love You
Truly", and "Through the Years". Everyone
was delighted with the Boyd's grand-
daughter, Sharon Bergey, as she sang
"Grandma and Grand a ". Accompanied by
her mother Barbara Bergey, she also' sang
' ice Cream", a reminder of the many gallons
of homemade ice cream made through the
years at the farm.
Another favourite, "Smiles", was sun by
Ernie Groves. Besides leading the sin n
choir director Jill Southwell sang "Da dy s
Little Girl". At the end, Ruth, Beth and
Barbara kissed their father.
Following the program, all were invited to
have tea and wedding cake served by Mrs.
Joel Evers, Miss Frances ,Causey, Mrs.
Harold Metheny and Mrs. Bob Wallace..
Family of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd attending the
anniversary included: Mr. and Mrs. Ross
(Ruth) Fisher, Mr. and Mrs. Joe (Beth)

Wednesday Musical earlier in the day,
enjoying a program of contemporary music.
Mrs. W.L. Howard, member, sang 'Do You
Remember" in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd
whose 50th wedding anniversary was March
17.
An exciting prelude to the music club
meeting was a ride in T. C, Underwood's 1926
Ford, driven by S.W. Clavel to the Woman's
Club building.
Earlier in the week approximately 60
residents of Lazy Acres at Zolfo Springs met
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Farmer to
honor Charlie and Bessie.
A decorated wedding cake, made by Mrs.
Annette Phillips, was served with mints and
punch. Everyone enjoyed a singing time with
the Boyd's daughter, Beth Walton, playing
