I don't believe this! I go away for a few days
and enjoy 75 to 80 degree weather in the state
of Michigan and what do I get when I get
home -- almost blown away and 45 to 50
degree temperatures. I would love to have
stayed there but they were to get a tornado 4o
I guess I can forego the cold here. It always
does one goodto go away -- for when you
return home it looks like a palace, particularly
after driving through the getto portion of
Detroit. Here .we fret if the trim on, one's
house, is chipped and needs touching up --
there, there is very little house left to touch
u But the most unbelievable part of our, brief
holiday was returning home to none other
than a mud storm. From . Forrest through
Grand Bend all the way to Exeter we drove
through almost snow storm like clouds of top
soil. Looking across the field one only saw a
greyish brown cloud blotting out all obstacles
to its way. Snow one can shovel and
eventually it melts, rain will disappear or
evaporate but mud?
Its rather difficult to relate the week's
happenings especially if one is not here to
experience the action but it was quite obvious
that the farmers were in full swing. The April
showers have brought the May flowers such
as the tulips anddaffodils to full bloom. Many
lawns have gotten their first trim and the old
faithful dandelion is lurking amidst the green
turf.
The clocks were shoved ahead by one hour
which made the evenings appear longer as it
was bright out until almost nine and do the
kids ever like that. Sure mom knows that you
don't go to bed before dark -- right!
This week is set aside as Education Week
and all schools in the area are taking part in a
number of very interesting projects. In St.
Patrick's School in Dublin this week the
students possessing talents in many areas
such as music, dancing and speaking put on a
presentation to their fellow students on
Monday, Apr. 30.
On Tuesday, May 1, Ralph Wood ad-
dressed the grade seven and eight students
on trapping animals, and Mrs. Harold Roser
gave the grade one students an art, lesson.
On Wednesday, May 2 the grades seven
and eight students are hosting a Senior
Citizen Card Party and Mrs. Roger Dumas is
meeting with grades one to five to demon-
strate a program of physical fitness.
On Thursday May 3 the students from
kindergarten to grade eight are holding a
Science Fair with open house being held in
the morning, with a pot luck supper at 6:30
p.m. sponsored by the P.T.A.
To close the week on Friday May 4, Cyril
Brown who is the weed inspector for the
county, will address the grade seven and
eight class.
Recent visitors with Marie Melady were
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Melady of Goderich, Mrs.
George Ducharme and Agnes Ische, Mitchell
