The sun shone and the temperature rose
to quite unusual highs for this time of year.
The children looked in dismay at their
sleighs and the motorists smiled in sheer
delight at the fact there is no snow to shovel
yet.
Nov. is almost over and one would think it
was April: 1, like many, have lost the mood
to shop for Christmas. It takes those big
white fluffy flakes of snow to create the
proper atmosphere.
The yearly Christmas parties are now
being held by many community groups and
oontpanies along with the many turkey
bingos in the area. Moms are busy making
their Christmas cake and puddings which
they carefully prepare, wrap and secretly
stash away out of family reach until the
cakes have been properly seasoned with
time and have acquired that just perfect
taste by Christmas.
Many families are making plans as to
whose house all the kin folk will gather to
celebrate the merry season. School children
are eagerly practicing for their 'annual
Christmas concert which is an enjoyable
program of skits, verses, and manly
selections of the ever popular traditional
Christmas carols.
The month of Dec. is also filled with a
great number of television programs for
young and old portraying Christmas in both
the old and modern versions through cartoon
characters and choral groups, and television
personalities. The favorite of all the children
is "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas". it is
really sad to see in real life just how many
grinches there are who delight in destroying
another youngster's hopes and dreams of
Christmas morning: Those who do this have
trulylost the spirit of Christmas.
Christmas is a time of peace and joy and of
giving --- nut just for giving gifts but for
giving happiness, of bringing hope and of
fulfilling one's dreams,
