Circuit rider at Hensall service The order for morning prayer every Lord's Day of the Methodist Church was used as the order of service on Sunday morning at the United Church. The congregation celebrated the 200th anniver- sary of Methodism and 100th anniversary of the union of the Methodist in Canada. The hymns by Charles and John Wesley were used throughout the service and the senior choir sang one of Charles Wesley's hymns "Jesus Lover of my Soul": For the children's sermon Mr. McDonald spoke about "A Horse as a Minister." He told the story of how the horse was used to bring God's word and Christ's salvation to all people, through the circuit rider. He told of the role of the Methodist over the years. To millions, he said, John Wesley brought the power of the Holy Spirjt. To Wesley and to Methodist ever since, the important question is not the state of the mind but the state of the heart. This is also the important question for the United Church of Canada. Only with the "Holy Spirit" can people become the church that God intended. At the close of the service, a circuit rider visited the congregation and told of the experiences of a circuit rider as he told the story to his horse Salvation.
