Ladies match
play ends
BY CAROLANNE DOIG
The Ladies Match Play finals were finally
finalized last week at the Seaforth Golf and
Country Club. Linda Gridzak defeated Cathy
Elliott 5 to 4 to win the 1984 championship.
The competition, like the Juniors and
Men's, lasts the entire summer with the
winners of different matches continuing on
until they're defeated. This popular event
manages to get golfers of varying skills in
competition together. It uses handicaps to
make it a "horse race", especially for ladies
just starting out. The Golf Club congratulates
Linda and all the ladies who participated and
helped make it a success.
On Tuesday, Nov. 20 the Ontario Ladies
Golf Association's annual meeting will
be held in Toronto. The luncheon meeting is
open to any lady golfers. Anyone interested
in attending is asked to contact the pro shop
by November 2.

shows signs of strength and potential. They
recorded a 9-4 loss to Cunningham Paints of
Stratford, Friday then were edged out 6-5 by
Goderich Sunday. Both games were on the
road.
In the first against Cunningham Paints,
goaltenders Kelly Calver and Leanne Whit-

"The whole team played very well
considering that many of these girls haven't

with time running out for Seaforth in the 6-5
loss.
Despite outshooting Goderich. the Sea -
