THE HURON EXPOSITOR, OCTOBER 24. 1984 — A19
Legion attends district convention
Slightly more than the normal members
present attendedthe general meeting
chaired Thursday by new President Jack
Muir. Attendance at meetings is still one of
our problems and will not be improved until
members realize their duty to the Branch
and their fallen Comrades, as members of
the Royal Canadian Legion.
On a motion introduced by Comrade
Cleave Coombs it was passed to buy a
complete set of dishes with the Legion crest
on each piece for our Auxiliary's use. It was
hoped they would be available for our
November 10th Veterans Banquet.
The material is now in our schools for the
poems and essay contests and Comrade
Tom Wilbee will keep us posted on the
Heartbeaters
hold meeting
The Kippen 3 "Heart Beaters" held their
third meeting recently at the Vanastra
Curling Club. The meeting started with all
the girls running a' mile to find their fitness
level.
They cooked chili con carne, fruit custard,
swiss steak, gado -gado, and french fried
potatoes.
The books focussed on the importance of
eating nutritionally, and three films were
shown.
The fourth meeting was held on Oct. 9 at
the home of Mrs. Townsend,
Members went to the Vanastra Recreation
Centre for half an hour in the exercise room,
followed by a swim and sauna.
The fifth meeting of the "Heart Beaters"
was held on Oct. 16 at the home of Mrs.
Wilson.
Members read through their books and all
tried the flexibility test.
Lunch was a pot luck. •
Members are looking forward to challeng-
ing the Fitness Fanatics on Oct. 28 for a
game of bowling.

both in the essays and poems.
We had the priviledge of attending the
District Convention held in Preston this past
weekend. On Saturday afternoon two
seminars were held, one on Protocol, by Joe
Kobolak, 2nd V.P. Ontario Command and
the other on Service, by Clare Wall,
Provincial Service Officer. Contents of their
speech will be , made known to service
