BERTHA MacGREGOR 262.2025 Membership Chairman, Lloyd Allan of the Hensall Legion is working to get that 100 per cent Early Bird Plaque again. The Legion missed it last year. Members may pay dues, which are $18 before the end of Dec. or $20 after, to Lloyd or Louise Allan, Ted Taylor or at the bar. Let's get with it Comrades, this shouldn't be too hard to accomplish. 'This month the Branch donated $50 to the CNIB, 550 to the homebond at Huronview, 5200 to minor hockey and two hours of ice time for the children at Christmas. Out of the poppy fund, the membership decided to send 5300 to Parkwood Hospital, Nov, 11 is on Sunday this year, so the Parade and Church Service will be at the usual time, Sunday morning. The banquet will be Sunday evening on Nov, 11 at 6 p.m. The ladies auxiliary celebrated their 35th birthday on Oct. 2, dining at the Bayfield Village Inn, with 18 members present, At the regular monthly meeting the members donated $35 to the CNIB, $25 to Huron County Homebond, 550 to minor hockey, two hours of ice time for the children at Cnristmas, $200 was sent to Westminster t 'll n tr•Fn This year the members decided to have a Cabbage Patch doll, instead of the regular doll. The Cabbage Patch doll has 525 on it, second prize will be $25. The doll is on display In William's Hairstyling, The draw will be held in the Legion hall on Dec. 21. Mary Kinsman who has been receiving treatment in Seaforth Community Hospital was removed to University Hospital, Lon- don. We wish her every good wish with her surgery. Mrs, Ross MacMillan and Mrs. Brian Collins both of Waterloo spent Monday with their mother, Mrs. Laird Mickle and aunt Florence Joynt. The many friends of Terry Baker who recently underwent treatment wish him the very best results and hope he soon will be home. Her topic was "The History of the United Senior Citizens of Ontario Province". Wayne Corbett met with an accident last week when the ladder he was using slipped and threw him down onto his arm. He was taken 10 Stratford General Hospital and underwent surgery to place a pin in the fracture as well as some grafting, We wish him u speedy recovery. Hensall United Church went back a few years on Sunday evening when the color slides of the churches activities during the early 70's were viewed. Eric Mansfield was in charge of showing the slides and Mr. McDonald led the opening sing -song and worship. MARGARET HOGGARTH 262-6902 Kippen East WI met at the home of Mrs. Campbell Eyre for their "Canadian Indus- tries meeting on Oct, 17. • Mrs, Campbell Eyre chaired the program and introduced her neighbour Mrs, H. Elliott who demonstrated the art of bread making, 1984 style, She began by grinding the wheat into flour and continued through the process which takes 15 minutes from the time you start until the bread goes into the oven. Bread rises in the oven at 200° and then continues cooking at 350°. Six loaves were made in this hatch and the ladies were delighted with the sample when it was cooked. Mrs. Jack Sinclair gave a fitting motto on "Bread is the symbol of home, hope and hospitality". Mrs. Uwe Wisch won the hat contest. Each lady modelled a hat she had made of fruits and vegetables. Mrs. Wisch's hat had a pumpkin for a frame and was studded with fruits and vegetables of all kinds. Mrs. Al Hoggarth gave Courtesy Remarks and lunch was served by Mary Whitehouse, Dorothy Bell and the hostesses. PERSONALS Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs, Harold Caldwell on being grandparents to the new baby girl born to Mr. and Mrs, Jamie Caldwell. We are pleased to report that Dave McGregor, son of John and Mary McGregor, is recovering Mealy after an operation following a fall' from the silo. Dave is presently in University Hospital, London, KIPPEN UNITED CHURCH - - Pastor Don Moffat presided at St, Andrew's on Sunday, The service was a dedication to the people who serve and protect their community, with a memorial to the police officers recently killed on duty. Pastor Moffat's sermon was entitled , "To serve and protect". Bulletin reminders are; Nov, 14, "Kippen Fall Supper" will be served at Brucefleld Church Hall, Tickets now on sale.
