The Huron Expositor, 1984-10-24, Page 6AB — THE HURON EXPOSITOR, OCTOBERv22, 19 Local UCY hosting Korean visitors To celebrate 100 years of Christianity in Korea,, and to strengthen links between Christian women in Korea and Canada, an exchange has been organized where women front the Presbyterian Republic of Korea (PROK) will visit Canada Sept. 20 to Oct. 20. Ten women from the United Church of Canada will visit Korea in the Spring of 1985. Over the past number of years, United Church Women have been offering their support to the women of Korea by purchasing and wearing Human Rights Fish pins. A portion of that money is returned to Korea for the women whose husbands have been jailed, or mistreated by their employ- ers. • Two Korean women, Mrs. Chung Bo Yung and Miss Lee Jong Won, will be visiting London Conference from Oct. 3 - 10. Mrs. Chung is a one-time member of the National Church Women's Association staff. She is presently studying Christian Educa- tion in Germany, along with her husband. She has qualified for ordination and is a member of ,a Seoul church. Miss Lee is a staff person of the National' Church Men's Association with office in Seoul. They are particularly in ted in Christian Education programs for chi dren, youth, wotnen, etc. through th ch as well • as materials used. While in the Huron -Perth area of London Conference, they will meet the local presidents and executive members of Huron -Perth Presbyterial United Church Women, at a pot luck dinner in Fillarton on Oct. ,5. An interdenominational meeting will be held Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. in Mitchell United Church to which everyone interested is invited. Octoberfest coming to the manor. Birthday greetings on Sunday to Madge Remes who celebrated her 83rd birthday and to Penny Cana who celebrated a birthday on - Friday at the Seaforth Health Care Facility.. Worship services were conducted Wednes- day afternoon by Rev. Archie Robertson of Bethel Bible Church. Oscar Noll visited his wife Ruth Noll. Visiting with Eva Netzke were Rose Altman and Ralph and Loretta Bennewies. Margaret Smale and Adrienne Hutchinson visited at Seaforth•• Health Care Facility on behalf of the Catholic Women's League. Anne Shefter and Eldin and Alice Schaus visited with friends at the nursing home. Thursday will be Octoberfest Day at Seaforth Health Care Facility. Residents will be served several Caerman dishes from dietary staff. In the afternoon, Marie Flynn and orchestra will provide some good old tyme music for dancing and singing. Staff volunteers and residents held a work bee last Tuesday evening in the activity room. All hands were kept busy making articles for the annual bazaar coming up on Nov. 3. A special feature this year is the children's corner. Lennie Bloomfield and Sid Pearson have worked hard selling tickets on the draw for a handmade quilt, hanging plant and T, V. cushion. Mary Finlayson attended the R.A.S.P. meeting at Extendicare Nursing Home, London on Thursday. High bowler on Monday was Patrick Ryan with a score of 196. OBITUARIES GEORGE PINKNEY George Pinkney of Sefiforth died at the Seaforth Community Hospital on Tuesday, Oct. 23. Funeral arrangements at Whitney-Ribey, Funeral Homeare incomplete. VERA BRINTNELL Vera A. Brintnell, the former Vera Bell. of the Blue Water Rest Home. Zd and formerly of Hensel!, died at St Jose ' Hospital, London on Friday, Oct. 9. She was 84. Predeceased by her husband William Brintnell, she is survived by one son John of RR 2, Staffa. Also surviving are grandchild- ren, Shirley, Mrs. Don Kerslake of RR 3, Exeter, Marilyn, Mrs. Rick V,anderbusche of RR I, Kirkton; and three great grandchild- ren. She was predeceased by two brothers John Bell in 1955; Earl ll hi 1984; and sister Ethel Drover in 1981. Funeral service was held from the Michael P. O'Connor Funeral Homes, Hensel) on Monday, Oct. 22. Rev. Stan McDonald tofficiated. JOSEPH WESENBERG Joseph Earl Wesenberg died at the home of his parents, George and Helen Wesen- berg, Brussels on Monday, Oct. 22. He was 40. Besides his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Larry of Kitchener; Fred of Sebringville; three sisters, Meryl Duncan of Fergus; Dianne Gibson of Fergus: and Dawne of Tavistock. The Brussels Chapel of the M.L. Watts Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements. A private service was held. Cremation followed. MARY ALICE RYAN Mary Alice Ryan. 23, formerly of Walton. died Monday, Oct. 15 in Stratford. Daughter of Gerry and Ann Ryan. of Walton. she is survived by three biers, Paul of Walton, and Chris and Mitifael at home. Also surviving are grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Ryan of Walton and Mrs. Freda Skinner of Brussels. Miss Ryan rested at the Brussels Chapel of the M.L. Watts Funeral Homes and a Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Brussels, Thurs- day. Father Stan Soltysik officiated. Inter- ment was at St. Ambrose Cemetery. MARY LUELLA FRASER Mary Luella Fraser, nee Shaw, of RR #5 Brussels, died Tuesday, Oct. 16 at the Wingham and District Hospital. Wife of the late Delbert Milton Fraser who passed away May 16, 1976 and daughter of the late Robert and Annie Shaw. Mrs. Fraser is survived by a -son, Robert Fraser, of RR #5. Brussels and a daughter, Dorothy (Mrs. Jack Cox) of Atwood. Also surviving are nine grandchild- ren and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Fraser rested at the Brussels Chapel of M.L. Watts Funeral Homes. where a service was held at 2 p.m'. Thursday. Mr. Robert Perry officiated. Pallbearers were Ken Lat'r Murray, Jim, Brian and Bruce Cox and Michael Fraser, all grandsons.
