Mrs. Robert Chaffe of Mitchell visited last
week with her mother Mrs. Jack Corbett.
Mrs. A. VandenHeuvel. Goderich and her
sister Kay Maasdan of Oud-Bayerland,
holland visited last week with Mr. and Mrs.
Sim Roobol.
Ida Ann Marashi and baby Atessa of
Vancouver B.C. visited the.former's parents
Irene and Stewart Blackwell and brother
George for two -weeks and while here they
also visited many friends.
Mary Kinsman is a patient in Seaforth
Community Hospital. Her many friends wish
her a speedy recovery.
UCW THANKSGIVING MEETIING
Unit 11 of Hensall United Church held their
Thanksgiving meeting Oct. 8.
Kay Mock opened with a poem "We Thank
Thee". Florence Slade was in charge of the
devotion using "Thanksgiving" as her
theme.
Members were reminded that the bale will
he packed at 9 a.m. on Oct, 29.
Unit 11 will be making Christmas favors for
Queensway, so please bring old Christmas
cards and scissors to the Nov. meeting.
Diane Gerstenkorn gave the study empha-
sizing "In our efforts to save others, we
ourselves are saved".
UCW GENERAL MEETING
The general meeting was held on Oct. 1
with Unit 3 in charge of devotions.
Dorothy Brintnell conducted the devotion.
Diane Gerstenkorn, convenor of Leader- •
ship Development introduced Rev. Dr.
George Hermanson, director of Five Oaks
and Rev. George Young Prime Associate.
They gave the history of Five Oaks and the
types of events that are available.
World Outreach report a bale of baby and
youth clothes had been sent to Zaire.
Unit 3's Bazaar is on Nov. 14.
Sadie Hoy volunteered to serve on the
Drinking -Driving Prevention Committee.

117th birthday

St. Andrew's United Church, Kippen
celebrated its 117th anniversary on Oct. 14
with Rev. Paul Murray of Bayfield presiding
in the pulpit.
The ministry of music was presented by
guest soloist Donna St. John. The- Kippen
choir added to the musical presdntation.
Rev. Murray based his sermon on "Be
Free". Next Sunday Pastor Don Moffat will
be back in the pulpit and his sermon will be
"To serve and protect", dedicated to police
officers and their families.

NORTHCREST NEWS
The seniors at Northcrest had a pot luck
dinner Thursday evening to observe the Sept,
and Oct. birthdays for Lottie Lawerence,
Barbara Plumb, and Glen. McKnight.
Several of the ladies played bingo.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pearce, Holmesville
visited Saturday with Mrs, Elizabeth.Alexan-
der and Olga and Ernie Chipchase,
Mrs. Hazel Luther returned home on
Saturday after a pleasant vacation with her
family and friends at the East coast. Irene
Finlayson and Rose Pyke spent Friday at
Orangeville viewing the colors.
Jean Morris, Goderich visited with her
sister and brother-in-law Olga and Ernie
Chipchase last week.
Mrs. John Pepper had a good report
following her recent eye surgery.
Jack and Audrey O'Connor are spending a
few days in Toronto.
Joe and Edna McLellan visited Thursday
with Wilfred Glazier, Clinton.
Olive Heal had eye surgery on Friday and
her report is favorable.
Mr, and Mrs. Robert McGregor attended
the funeral of their friend, Wm, Rinn in
Thamesford on Thursday. •

fourth meeting of the Egmondville 4-H
Fitness Fans , on Oct.. 9 at the home of
Dianne Oldfcild.
After reading about the importance of
strengthening and stretching exercises,
each member tried two variations of push -
ups and sit ups. The club members also

On Saturday, an open house was held by
the family of Elmer and RetarPotter in honour
of their 50th wedding anniversary.
BLOCK PARENTS
The Hensall Block Parents Bake Sale was a
great -success. A generous donation was
received from the Hensall Kinsmen.
It's hoped that "Block Parent Community"
signs will soon be installed at the three
highway entrances to Hensall.
On Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m., an information
meeting will 'be held in the Hensall Public
School for anyone wanting to know more
about the Block Parent organization. Every-
one is welcome.
