MARGARET AI KEN -HEAD
A former resident of Brucefield, Margaret
Aikenhead of London died at St: Joseph's
Hospital, London on Friday, Oct. 12. She was
Daughter of the late Hugh and Ann
Aikenhead, she is survived by one sister,
Anna, Mrs, Mac Wilson of Brucefieid; three
nieces and three nephews.
She was predeceased by one sister, Janet,
Mrs. Abe Zaphe.
Funeral service was held Sunday, Oct. 14,
from the Ball and Falconer Funeral Home,
Clinton. Interment in Baird's Cemetery,
Stanley Township.
MAY BAKER
May Baker, the former May Hunter of RR
3, Brussels, died Sunday, Oct. 14 at
Callander Nursing Home in Brussels. She
was 87.
Predeceased by her husband Chester
Baker, she is survived by one daughter-in-
law, Marie Baker of Atwood; one sister, Ida
Gordon off Cranbrook; three grandchildren,
Wayne of Bolton; Shirley, Mrs. Bill Buckland
of London; Nancy, Mrs. Jim Mclsaac of RR 2,
Moorefield; and eight great grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased
by one daughter Pearl and one son Carman.
Funeral service was held from the Peebles
Funeral Home, Atwood on Tuesday, Oct. 16.
Rev.'Donald McInnis of Moncton Presbyter-
ian Church officiated. Interment in Elma
Centre Cemetery.
THELMA BROMLEY
Born in Mullett Township, Thelma Bromley
of Kitchener died on Tuesday. Oct. 2. She
was 79.
A daughter of the late C. James Dale and
Mary Dodds, she was predeceased by her
husband Arthur W. Bromley and one brother
. Verne.
She is survived by two brothers, J. Arnold
Dale of Clinton and William J. Dale of
Seaforth; several nieces and nephews.
DUPEE — MALONE
Pat Malone and Debbie Dupee were
married October 5 at St. James Roman
Catholic Church in Seaforth by Father
Caruana. The bride is the daughter of Don
and Catherine Dupee of Seaforth and the
groom is the son of Clarence Malone, of
Seaforth, and the late Evelyn Malone.
Matron of Honor was Barb Shannon, sister of
the bride, and bridesmaids were Sandra Butt,
of Seaforth, Joanne Muegge of Brandon,
Manitoba and Cynthia Dupee, of Toronto
Best man was Tom Malone of Slave Lake,
Alberta, brother of the groom and guests
were ushered by Ron Henderson, Tom
Devereaux end Tom Shannon, all of Seaforth.
A reception was held at the Legion Hall in
Seaforth, The couple now resides at 31
Goderich Street in Seaforth.

BROOME -- BLACKBIRD
Kathleen Marie Broome and Casey Alan
Blackbird were married August 8 at the
Kiwanis Waterfall Gardens in Regina,
Saskatchewan. The bride is the daughter of
George and Patricia Broome, Seaforth, and
the groom is the son of William Blackbird of
Regina, Saskatchewan and Margaret Black•
bird of Walpole Island, Ontario, Matron of
Honour was Lizabeth Nicholls Blackbird,
stepmother of the groom. Best man was
William Blackbird, father of the groom. A
reception followed at the home of Lizabeth
and William Blackbird. Gunner and Mrs.
Blackbird now reside at the Canadian Forces
Base Shilo, Shilo, Manitoba.
Funeral service was held from the
Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home, Seaforth on
Thursday, Oct. 4. Interment in Maitiandbank
Cemetery, Seaforth.
Flowerbearerk were nieces, Muriel Fogt,
Loraine Dale, Laurel Giousher, Pallbearers
were Murray Dale, Erik Fogt, Harvey Snell
and Murray Scott.
ELVA GOURLEY
Elva Roberta (Smitty) Gourley of Antigon-
ish, Nova Scotia, died Sunday, Sept. 9 at
home. She was 82.
Born in Seaforth, she was a daughter of the
late William Smith and Doris Love.
She was an active member of the UCW, St,
James Church Choir and was a member of the
Naomi Rebekah Lodge 38. She was a member
of St. Martha's Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and
a long time member of the Red Cross.
Surviving besides her husband Ernie are
two daughters, Joan, Mrs. Weldon MacGilli-
vray of Summerside, PEI; Bernice, Mrs. Roy
Thomson of Wolfville,-Nova Scotia; one son
Robert of Antigonish; two brothers. Karl and
George, both of Vanderhoof, B.C.; 10
grandchildren and one great grandchild. She
is also survived by relatives in the Seaforth
area.
She was predeceased by one son Murray;
two sisters, Agnes and Myrtle; three
brothers, Norman, Robert and Arthur,
Funeral service was held from St. James
United Church, Antigonish on Wednesday,
Sept. 12. Interment in St. James Cemetery,
Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
VERNA PENNER
Verna Muriel Penner, the former Verna
Brewer died at the McKinnon -Phillips
Hospital, Owen Sound on Sept. 28, She was
63.
Daughter of the late Duncan Brewer and
Gladys Rowland, she is survived by one
daughter, Audrey, Mrs. Fred Ducketh; two
granddaughters, one grandson, all of Flesh-
erton
Also surviving are two brothers, Melvin
Jermyn, Bluevale; Donald Duncan, Kitchen-
er; one sister, Elizabeth Gower, Wingham.

MELVIN CARNOCHAN
Melvin J. Carnochan of Ethel, died Friday,
Oct. 12 at the Listowel Memorial Hospital. He
was 77.
Born in Grey Township, he was a son of the
late John Carnochan and Annie Michael. He
farmed in Grey Township most off his life and
operated a backhoe and drainage business.
He was a member of St. Alban's and St.
David's Anglican Church in Atwood.
Surviving are two sisters, Pearl, Mrs. Alex
Shaw of Brussels; May, Mrs. Art Rock of
Seaforth; two stepdaughters, Olive Bolden
and Audrey Cameron and one stepson, Colen
McGregor, all of Toronto. Also survived by
one sister-in-law, Mildred Hamilton of
Listowel and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Carnochan was predeceased by his
first wife, the former Lillie Voy Collis and his
second wife, the former Agnes E. Watson.
Funeral service was held from the Peebles
Funeral Home, Atwood, on Monday, Oct. 15,
Rev. Robin Lyons of St, John's Anglican
Church, Brussels officiated. Interment in
Elma Centre Cemetery.
DOUG MILES
A former agricultural representative in
Huron County, Douglas H. Miles of Agin.
court, died on Friday, Sept. 28. He was 65.
Born in Milliken in York County, northeast
of Toronto, he lived on the family farm. In
1942, he graduated froth the chemistry option
with his B.S.A. from the Ontario Agricultural
School. He did his undergraduate work in
nutrition at the OAC.

family farm for five years. He was active in
Junior Farmers and 4-H club work. In 1947 he
joined the Extension Branch and was
assistant in several counties. Two years later,
he was appointed agricultural representative
in Kingston, Frontenac County.
In 1957 he was transferred and became the
ag. rep. in Huron County. He was also the
professional agrologist with the Extension
Branch ' of the Ontario Department of
Agriculture and Food, Clinton.
In 1968 he was transferred to Toronto
where he worked at the bead office as farm
business management consultant.
He was transferred to Program Co-ordina-
tor Secretariat OMAF as farm management
spepialist and area co-ordinator in 1977, And
in 1982 he transferred to the Agricultural
Representative Branch as farm management
specialist. •
He became the farm business advisor in
1983 for counties in the Toronto area. He
retired on Nov. 30, 1983.
He is survived by his wife, Alberta of
Agincourt.
Funeral service was held from Odgen's
Funeral Home, Agincourt on Monday, Oct. 1.
JOHN HALLAHAN
John Thomas Hallahan of Blyth, died at the
Wingham and District Hospital on Saturday,
Oct. 13. He was 79.
Surviving besides his wife, Patricia Lynett,
are two daughters, BettycAnn, Mrs. James
McGregor of RR 2, Kippen; Mary Ellen of RR
3, Blyth; two sons, Michael of RR 3,
Walkerton and James of RR 3 Blyth. Also
surviving are two brothers, Simon of RR 3,
Blyth; Dan off Blyth; one sister, Annie Steffler
of Brussels; and 15 grandchildren.
Resting at the Tasker Funeral Home, Blyth,
funeral service was held at St. Michael's
Roman Catholic Church, Blyth, on Monday,
Oct. 15. Interment in St. Michael's Ceme-
tery, Morris Township.

William Kenneth Ament of Kitchener,
died at the K -W Hospital on Monday, Oct, 1.
Born in Seaforth, he was a son of the late
William Ament and Janet Winters of
Seaforth.
Surviving besides his wife, Wilhelmina
(Billie) Ament, are three brothers, Warren off
Cincinnati, Ohio; Arthur and Karl, both of
Toronto and one sister, Helen Grainger of
London.
A private family service was held at the
Edward R. Good Funeral Home, Waterloo.
Rev. Jessie Bigelow officiated. Cremation
has taken place. Interment in Parkview
Cemetery, Waterloo.
