YOUTH FOR CHRIST t it off the season for Youth for Christ was held Saturday night in Brucefield school. Over 150 in attendance. The rally was in charge of Ron Westlake. The Board has purchased a "Quiz Time System Set". Each chair that the quizzer sits on has an electronic switch and when they jump to answer a question, a light comes on the panel thus the scorekeeper knows which person was up first. It will be used at p¢he rallies. Next month on Nov. 3, they will be quizzing on Psalm 120 and 121. The young people from Grand Bend Church of God provided the music. During the offering time Laura Campbell and Lori Vincent favored with a duet on the piano. The Nov. 3 rally will be a film entitled `'Angel Alley". Plans are being made for a winter retreat in Feb. at Ules Aarums Camps, Delvan, New York, Also the film "The, Prodigal" is being shown in London and Goderich in Oct. The speaker for the evening was Rev. Vince Guerra, Pastor of First Church of God, Blackbury Virginia. He was born and raised in New York City and was involved in street gangs and drugs and alcohol. He. told of his life on drugs, and how he was saved and is now serving God. Remember to keep the first Saturday night of each month open for a good rally in Brucefield school, PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs, Jack McDonald and family of Brampton were Thanksgiving guests with Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Cudmore. Charles Mickle of Hamilton was a weekend visitor with his mother Mrs. Laird Mickle. Mrs. C. Christie returned home following surgery in Victoria Hospital, London. She spent a few days with her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Dan O'Neill and hristi District 23, Sister Kay Wise, visited Amber Rebekah Lodge in Hensall and installed the o cera for the. new term. iNoble Grand Marg Upshall resided, a slsted by Vice Grand Eunice Alkenhead. UNIT 3 MEETS Unit 3 of Hensall United Church Women met with Marg Upshall in charge of the worship. President Dorothy Parker opened the meeting with a poem. Earls Coleman read from the mandate "South Korea". The Regional meeting will be held in Zurich, Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m. The Bazaar date was set for Nov, 14 at 3 p.m. The study was taken by Pearl Taylor "A Canadian Looks at the Korean C urch.Rev. PCW MEETING The PCW of Hensall Carmel Church met on Oct. 1° with 14 members and 12 guests present. Gloria Mousseau led the worship. Jean Snell read the scripture. Florence Hyde gave a reading and Margaret Hoggarth introduced the guest speaker Joanne Dinney from Exeter. Country Flowers. The bazaar will be held Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. Next meeting at the Bean Pot in Hensall at 7 p.m, for supper followed by business in the church basement, COMMUNION CELEBRATED The United Church was filled on Sunday morning as the congregation celebrated World Wide Communion along with the Thanksgiving service. Gary Kyle greeted the congregation and Bill Fuss, Harold Parsons, Ken McLean and Hans Gerstenkorn were the ushers. Mr. McDonald spoke on "Thanksgiving Unlimit- ed". The Junior Choir led the congregation in the ministry of music by singing two Thanksgiving anthems. Mr. McDonald di- rected the choir with Belva Fuss at the organ. The sanctuary was decorated for Thanks- giving by Unit three of the UCW. The congregation was reminded that Bible Study would be changed from Friday morning to Thursday morning each week and that the official board will meet on Thursday evening, e try new exercises Correspondent MARGARET HOGGARTH 262.6902 HIPPEN EAST WI NEWS Kippen East Women's Institute will meet on Oct. 17 at 8:30 at the home of Grace Eyre. ' The roll call is to be answered with Ways of Using Bread. Speaker will be Mary Elliott. For the contest, members are to make a hat from fruits and vegetables and model it. UNITED CHURCH NEWS St. Andrew's, Kippen celebrated their Thanksgiving service on Sunday with Pastor Don Moffat presiding. The Ministry of Music was presented by the choir, accompanied by Mary Moffatt at the organ. On Oct. 14, Kippen will celebrate their anniversary, one service only at 11 a.m. Speaker will be Rev. Paul Murray from Bayfield. Special music provided by Mrs. Donna St. John.PEveryone is welcome. 4-H NEWS The fourth meeting of the Kippen Fitness Fanatics was held on Oct. 4 at the home of Jane Papple. Members discussedways of shaping up and snacking habits. They tried a few exercises which were recommended in the book. Treasurer Diane Vanneste handed out orange duo -tangs for the book covers. Dates were discussed for fitness meet. Members then prepared the bran muffins and cheesey popcorn. Press Reporter Janet Hoggarth Thanksgiving service in Brucefield spent the weekend with Grace McBride. Mr. and Mrs. Peter McLaughlin, Toronto visited Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Scott. Betty Boyce, Toronto visited for a few days with Alice Ham. Bob Dalrymple has returned from Stratford Hospital having had surgery. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Scott and son of Willowdale spent Thanksgiving weekend with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Ken Scott. Mrs. 'Doreen Baird has returned from Oshawa ISAB SCOTT 482-7135 Thanksgiving services were held Sunday morning with Pastor Moffat speaking on giving thanks for everything. Next Sunday the anniversary service will be held at 11 a.m. at Kippen with Rev. Paul Murray. Visiting at the manse on the weekend were Mr. and Mrs. C. Moffat, Sombra with their son and family. Sharon Pine and children of Brampton Visitors with Al and Margaret Hoggarth and family for Thanksgiving were Ruby Hoggarth of Zurich, Cherryl Smith of Walton, Gayle Harrison of Seaforth and Barry Cleave of Brucefield. Mr. and Mrs. James Flannigan, formerly of Seaforth, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 6. Married at St. Thomas Anglican Church on Oct. 6, 1934, they now reside in Hamilton. A home party was given them by their sons and wives and members of their families, and friends. Attending were guests from Goderich, Kippen, Seaforth, Sarnia, Stoney Creek, Wlllowdale and Toronto, and neighbors and friends in Hamilton. Mr. and Mrs. Alex McGregor spent the weekend in Hamilton attending the 50th anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Flannigan. Mrs. Flannigan was the former Bessie Edgar.
