fitness leaders acquire the knowledge and
skills required to enable them to lead safe and
enjoyable fitness classes in the community.
Included in the program are: the concepts
and techniques of dance; the use of elements

The workshop will be held Saturday, Nov.
3, at Vanastra Recreation Centre. The fee of
$30,00 includes all materials and lunch.

Centenaires have Sunday opener
A reminder to please pick up equipment
and/or money from the MINOR HOC

EQUIPMENT SALE. You can pick
yours up at the arena Monday to Friday, from
8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The CENTENAIRES play their home
opener this Sunday at 2:00 p.m. when
Tavistock visits town. The local team has
been rounding into shape and are looking
forward to a successful season. Don't wait to
support your team: come out and see them in
action from the start of their new season!
MINOR BASEBALL'S PAPER DRIVE is
this Saturday, October 13. The next paper
drive will be Saturday, November 10. Please
keep saving your papers and have them at the
curb by 9 a.m.
A five week PUPPET WORKSHOP pro-
gram will be held at the Van Egmond House
on Thursdays, starting October 25. A
beginners class will he held from 7 to 8 p.m.
and an advanced disc from 8 to 9 p.m. The
registration fee is $10 per child and you may
register at the Recreation Office. Marian
Doucette will once again be instructing 'the
course.
A nine week BALLROOM DANCING
program will be starting on Monday, October
15 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Seaforth and
District Community Centres. Lou Morello is
the experienced instructor for this program.
The registration fee is $20 per person and you
may register at the Recreation Office. Put on
your danbing shoes and enjoy nine weeks of
the finest dance instruction.
St, Thomas Anglican Church will be
hosting the 'JOYFUL NOISE' SINGERS for a
concert this Sunday, October 14. The concert
begins at 7:30 p.m. at the church. Admission
is $2 for adults and children under 12 years
will be admitted free. Everyone is welcome.
Houseleague motocross holds
final round at Huily Cully
The final round of the 1984 Hully Gully
Houseleague Motocross Season was held
Saturday, Sept. 29 with over 70 riders
competing. Clear skies and warm tempera-
tures helped to make the day a great success.
The best race of the day had to be the
Junior B, Brian Keys of Seaforth outran
Glenn Emery of London to finish first overall

The Fall Program '84 for swim and fitness
classes starts September 24th to December 1,
1984, at Vanastra Recreation Centre (2 miles
south of Clinton).
There are classes for people of all ages. The
Red Cross Youth Water Safety classes
encompass the regular colour system from
the non -swimmer yellow class to the final
white level. This fall the RLSS Lifesaving 1
will be incorporated in the Grey level and the
RLSS Lifesaving 2 will be introduced in the
White level for no extra charge.
For those who want to continue lifesaving
skills and develop leadership activities the
RLSS Bronze Medallion course is being
offered Monday evening.
Adult swim classes include "Ladies Only"
and Co-ed Adult classes. These lessons
consist of aquafit; for swimmers, advanced,
non -swimmer, beginner 1 and beginner 2
classes.
A new program in the pre-school classes
involves moms and dads learning to teach
their children to swim in a structured
program. These classes are called Parent &
Tot for up to two year olds and Guppies and
Parents for the two to four year olds. Also
offered is the Kindergym and swim for three
to five year olds. This class is "for kids only".
Synchronized swimming is a popular
program for the person who feels comfortable
in deep water and wishes to increase their

Mom and Dad bring the children and
everyone can take lessons in the Family Learn -
to Swim Program on Thursday evenings at
7:45 p.m.
One new program this fall is the Swim Fit
course which includes water exercise in the
shallow end of the pool. Participants do not
need to know how to swim or even have to put
their head under water.
Exercise in water takes all the strain and
weight off muscles and joints making it easier
for people to move. For this reason the
Arthritic Exercise Class held on Mondays at
2:00 p.m. is a good program for everyone
wishing to maintain or increase their range of
mobility.
Another new program is the Water Stroke
Skills where the swimmer works at whatever
swim stroke he wishes to improve. This
improves his fitness level at the same time.
Fun & Fitness!! Change Fitmess to
Fitness. Join the Fitness for Fun classes and
experience a fun way to exercise to musk.
T•hls program is instructed by Drusilia Leitch
of Seaforth who Is an experienced teacher and
has trained at many workshops (FOLP Basks
and Advanced etc.). Regular lasses are held
Monday at 11:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.,
Wednesday 1:30 and 8:30 p.m., and
Thursday 7:30 p.m. Modified classes which
are slower in pace for the beginner or
overweight person are at 7:30 p,m. on
Wednesday evenings. All classes arc an hour
in length and arc followed by use of the sauna
and a splash in the pool.
The Back Care Program (Monday at 1:30
p.m.) is a series of floor exercises and
relaxation techniques designed to help those
who experience back problems.
The pool, the sauna and the fitness room
are available to the public for a daily
admission charge or memberships are
available to those who make frequent use of
the facility.
Recreation Swims are available daily.
Adult only swims are Monday to Friday 12:00
-1:15 p.m. and Wednesday 9:30-10:30 p.m.
Open recreation swims (for all ages) are
Monday 2:30.3:30 p.m., 8:30-10:00 p.m.
Tuesday 8:30.10:00 p.m.; Wednesday 6:30 -7:31) p. rn_; Thursday 8:30-10:00 p.m,: Friday
6:30- :00 p.m.: Saturday and Sunday 3:00-
4:30 p.m.
A Family Only Swim is Sunday 2:00 3:00
p. m.
New this fall is an Early Bird Swim on
Wednesday and Friday mornings from 7:45
to 9:00 a.m. The fitness room and sauna are
also available at this time. A person can come
in at 7:30 on these days. have a workout in the
fitness room, a relaxing sauna and a
refreshing plunge in the pooI and be ready to
begin their work day at 9:00 a.m
Another feature for children and adults are
the private and semi -private lessons avail-
able for those who need a little extra attention
from a qualified instructor.
A regular weekly activity in the Centre's
auditonum is Bingo which is held every
Tuesday evening.
Many people will be glad to hear that the
Country Singles will once again be holding
dances every second week starting in
October.

Recreation Centre.
Final round of
ATV series
CRC Productions in conjunction with Hully
Gully presents the Final Round of the AP/
Fall Race Series, Oct. 14. See high revving
three and four wheel machines take on the
fast and smooth course at the Hully Gully
track. Come and see the crazy kamikahzies
from the north take on the fares boys from the
south. Watch these machines fly through the
air over the double jumps and slide around
the wide open corners.
There are classes for everyone to take part
in. There will be a pancake breakfast from
941 a.m. sign -in 11-12, practice 12 o'clock
and racing begins at 1 p.m.
Special attraction will be a D.J. race
between CKSL and CKNX. Riders will be
competing for trophies and cash as well as the
points cash fund.
In the point standings to date Steven Beane
of Bruoteld is ninth in the 200 Solid lass
with font . _ , +.: and Bert Middegaal is tied
for fourth ,+ the 200-225 Modified class with
15 pointe.
