The Huron Expositor, 1984-09-19, Page 19Members parade to cenotaph LEGION NEWS On Sunday post Seaforth Branch hosted the fall convention of Zone C.1. with approximately one hundred 'members and wives present from ,the eleven branches which form our Zone. a • After a parade to, lay the wreaths at the cenotaph the meeting convened at 1400 hrs under the able 'leadership of our Zone Commander, Glen Bridge. One resolution from Seaforth was passed pertaining to the Corps of Commissionairs. It was felt they should receive the security work on overnment buildings rather than have foreign organizations bidding at a lower figure. The Corps mainly ,consists of Veterans and as a result has left many with no work. After the meeting lunch was served by our Auxiliary. Peter Malcolm our past president assures us the calibre of entertain- ment will be as good as years in the past. There are still some tickets, available but should be picked,up immediately. They go rather quick at the last moment. This week has been declared Legion Week by the Command and they have asked local branches to observe the same. Our „branch will have Oen house ail week,and we ask the public to'please'visit and bring a friend. Our displays are, worth viewing. Drop by our booth at the fair;on'Thursday eve and Friday and finish the week by.'going''to the Ceilidh. Our 'sports chairman says therens still room for more golfers over fifty on the 29th of this month. There will be prizes, a steak supper and eighteen holes of golf for $20.00. You can't go wrong and remember ii never rains on the • golf course. Our Bowling League starts' on the 28th Sept. at seven o'clock.
