• Election Tidbits: Brian Mulroney is in a
hurry to be sworn in as Prime Minister on
Sept. 17. Mr. Turner will be the P.M. to
welcome the Pope and Mr. Mulroney wants
to be the P.M. to say goodbye to him. The
Women's caucas expects Mr. Mulrohey to
have three or four women in the cabinet.
Beware the wrath of women Brian. Mita
Mulroney is of course anxious to get into 20
Sussex Drive to decide what renovating she
wants done, (Wonder what this change of
residents there will cost the Canadian
taxpayers?) Her husband should remember
that the Tories promised to cut back
spending on everything. Will the incredible,
increase in the number of women MP's
mean less bickering and stalling and more
attention given to important national affairs?

Many Canadians have been complaining
about the excessive cost of the Canadian tour
of Pope John Paul 11.Others in the areas of his
visits are concerned about traffic congestion
and the danger of accidents caused by the
gathering of expected crowds. ,There is the
most massive security measures.ever for his
visit. The CBC and CTV networkshave put
in months of preparations to cover the tour
from coast to coast. Thousands of Cana-
dians, Catholic and non-Catholic, will be
watching all the major events of the Pope's
tour.

It is well know that in rural areas, small
towns and villages, folks are ever ready to
come to the aid of those who have been the
victims of disaster. It has also been proved
true of city folk. The recent London tornado
which injured dozens of people and caused
thousands of dollars of damage in one part of
the city, brought quick help and comfort
from more fortunate neighbors.

One thing President Ronald Reagan has
said will be agreed with by many adults
including troubled parents. When respond-
ing to reports that his daughter, Patti Davis,
feels people shouldn't he arrested for
marijuana possession and that there is
nothing wrong with unmarried couples living
together, Reagan said "I'm just sorry that
spanking is out of fashion."
