There was an excellent attendani;e'at he
Hensall United Church on Sunday morning
when Mr. McDonald spoke on the subject of
"Does It Really Matter What We Believe",
with the children's story on "You Are The
Salt of the Earth."
Audrey Christie greeted the congregation
and Al Corbett and Doug Kyle were the
ushers. The flowers at the front of the church
were placed in memory of Ken Upshall as
well as in honor of the marriage of Betty
Upshall to Stewart Irvine.
Next Sunday, Sunday School will re -open
with classes for children from three years
and' up. The Installation of teachers and
group leaders will also be held.
PERSONALS
Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Earl and Janice,
Laurie -Ann and Sherry of Owen Sound
visited this week with their uncle Rev.
McDonald.
The Presbyterian Ladies will meet on
Monday, Sept. 10 at 8 p.m. in the church.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bissett, Jennifer
and Alicia of Diamond, Alberta visited last
week with their grandmother, Edith Bell,
and aunt Pauline Bell.
Martha Barr and Jean Mangle of New
Jersey, U.S.A. visited last week with Mrs.
C. Christie. While here they spent much
time with Jessie Brock of the Bluewater
Nursing Home.
Mr. and Mrs: Earl Gingerich, Arcadia,
Florida, have been visiting their daughter
and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Stewart.
Margaret Lagerwerf, Parkhill, Anna
Eagleson, Greenway and Mr.'and Mrs. Dick
Poll, Oud-Beyerland, Holland were guests
with Mr. and Mrs. Sim Roobol last week.
Mrs. C. Christie visited with her sister,
Mrs. R. Watson of Seaforth.
Kathleen Bissett, London visited recently
with her mother Edith. Bell and her sister
Pauline Bell.
Ross and Ina Brown, Tara Stapleton.
Newtonville and Connie Taylor, Gravenhurst
were recent guests with Ross and Donna
Corbett and attended the Taylor picnic at the
home of Bill, Helen and Mark Taylor at
Varna.
Rev. Kenneth Knight conducted service in
Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday.
Service will be conducted at 10:15 a.m. each
Sunday.
Mrs. Brian Collins and children of
Waterloo spent last Wednesday with the
former's mother Mrs. Laird Mickle.
Mr. and Mrs. Eric Munro visited recently
with Bertha MacGregor.
Mrs. Laird Mickle attended the family
gathering on Sunday at the home of her son
and daughter-in-law Robert and`Mrs. Mickle
and family near Ayr.

Brucefield service resumes

Mr. and Mrs. Don Moffat and family have
returned home after their holiday. Church
service resumed on Sunday at 10 a.m.
Quite a number of people attended the
opening of the new Stanley Community
Complex and the ecumenical church service
on Sunday,
Mr. and Mrs. Rick Burdge and boys have
returned after a trip through the western
provinces.
Mr. and Mrs, Fred McGregor, Woodstock
spent the weekend with his mother Mrs.
Gregor McGregor.
Congratulations and best wishes to Mr.
and Mrs. Bob Broadfoot on the occasion of
their 25th wedding anniversary. A family
dinner was held at the church hall on Sunday
for members of the families.
Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. John Broad -
foot on th' weekend were Eldon and Mary
Smith, Kitchener; Jack and Julia Broadfoot
and family, Thamesford; Jean Provost and
girls, London; Jim and Bev Broadfoot,
Vanastra and Dave and Helen Weigel,
Cleveland.
Minor storm damage
is reported in Kippen

The wind storm on Sunday, caused minor
damage to Kippen properties. Bob and Babe
McGregor lost a large weeping willow tree.
They had moved the car away from the
shelter of the tree minutes before it fell
down.
Rena and Jack Caldwell lost a cut leaf
Maple tree to which the clothes line was
attached and in Rena's own words • "What
with the oil truck, the snow blower and the
wind, lam not meant to have a clothesline."
Mona and Vern' Alderdice had their
-laneway blocked by v big solid evergreen
tree. Limbs of other trees had been blown up
against a tree, teepee fashion.
Sophia McGregor lost a large tree at her
gateway. Al Hoggarth had a large wire corn
crib moved 150 feet across the laneway,
landing on top of the cultivator.
4-R COMPUTER CLUB NEWS
Lawrence Beane and Greg Hoggarth
attended an informative session on Aug. 29
concerning the 4-H computer club about to
start in Huron County.
The session, held at Centralia College
dealt with the use of computers in today s
society and also included "hands-on"
experience at computer terminals.
Lawrence and Greg will be leading the 4-H
computer club in the Kippen•Brucefield
area. The club is open to anyone 12.21 years
old as of July 1. For more information
contact Greg at 262-6902 or Lawrence at
482.9260.
The first meeting will be on Sept. 29 at
1:30 p.m. at the home of Lawrence Beane
(1'/7 miles west of Brucefield,)
Joyce Wilson and Eileen Townsend
attended 4-H training school on August 28 at
Holmesville, and Penny Savage and Marg-
aret Hoggarth attended on Thursday Aug.
30 at Centralia. These leaders are now ready
to relay what they learned to young people in
the Kippen, Brucefield and Seaforth area.
Any young boy or girl between the ages of 12
and 26 as of July 1 is welcome to participate.
Fitness Fare will take a took at food habits,
techniques for weight control, and members
will compare their stamina and endurance to
other Canadians of the same age. This club
also includes excellent recipes based on
nt{tritioza and. energy foods. ,For further

KLIPPEN UNITED CHURCH NEWS
Church services resumed at St. Andrew's
United Church at 11:30 on Sunday. Pastor
Don Moffat was in charge and Barbara
Cooper presided at the organ.
A special students service will take place
Sept. 9, The joint session will meet in the
evening at Kippen. Communion service will
take place Sept. 2.3.
An invitation is extended to all people of
the area to meet and join in the fellowship
with the Kippen congregation.

Penny Savage celebrated her birthday at
Wildwood by the River in Hayfield. Those
sharing in the celebration were her husband
Mark. and children, Andrew, Tara and
Aaron; Jim and Susan Rumball of Dashwood
and children, Todd, Karen and Christine;
Ron and Cow Patty Morrison, and Cow
Patty's brother Jim Johnson all of Huron
Park; Stephen Dale, Clinton; Al and
