Sheol family holds seco reunion in Atwood Over 90 descendants of the pioneers, Shiels brothers, gathered at the Elma Memorial Community Centre in Atwood on July 22. This was the second reunion the family had. Four Shiels, descendants of Thomas and Barbara (Cranston) Shiels, came to Canada in the 1850's. John and George homesteaded in Grey Twp in 1852, JohR on lot 19, concession 14 and, George on lot 20, concession 15. Jean Anderson, their sister, settled on lot 10, concession 6 and lot 10, concession 7 in- Turnberry Township. Their older brother Thomas settled on lot 16, concession 15, Gres, Township in 1860. A younger brother Scotland. Descendants of all except Jean Anderson were present at the reunion. Guest of honor were Mr, and Mrs. John Perrie of concession 12, Grey and Marilyn • Engel of Cranbrook. The oldest present `was Mrs. Florence Allan of Michigan. Travelling the furthest was Douglas Kennedy of B.C. Members were present from B.C., Alberta, Sask„ Manitoba, Iowa, Ontario and Michigan. Country western singing with guitar accom- paniment was provided by Cliff and Mel Shiels, The next reunion will be in Winnipeg in 1986.
