The singing of the hymns was accompanied by Muriel Scott on the auto- harp. Lillian Douglas read the minutes and dealt with the correspondence. Discussion center- ed on study book materials for next year. In her topic, Muriel Scott discussed the Haggi Institute, a training centre in Singa- pore where lay people are taught to spread the news of Jesus as they go about their daily work. Betty Dow was in charge of the study hook session on African Youth and the Chnrrh. Obituaries Assisting in matching names with descrip- tions of people serving in the Presbyterian Church in Africa were Agnes Lamond, Muriel Scott. Lila McKaig, Lillian Douglas, and Edna Stoneman. Discussion of the different laws in rural and urban churches in Malawi proved very interesting. PERSONALS Robert Dearing, Staffa, has returned home after spending a week with his uncle. Jack Chappel. Caleb, Heather and Eldon Gammon. Stratford, have been holidaying with their grandparents, Eldon and Gladys Allen. ELMERLARONE A prominent Seaforth businessman for' more than 30 years, Elmer Basil Larone died at his home in Harpurhey on Wednesday, July 18. He had been in poor health for some time. He was 77. Born in Peterborough, Mr. Larone came to Seaforth from Chatham in 1949 and purchased the former Ironside variety and stationery business which he carried on successfully until his retirement in 1978. Active in the community he was a member of the Seaforth Lions Club and served as president in 1956-60. He also was a member of Brittania Lodge #170 A.F. & A.M.. Seaforth, St. Thomas Anglican Church, Seaforth, Scottish Rite, London Lodge of Perfection, London Sovereign Chapter Rose Croix, Moore Sovereign Consestory, Hamil- ton, and the Mocha Temple, London. He is survived by his widow. the former Margaret Case to whom he was married in 1975, by his son Kenneth and daughter -in• law, Nancy, three granddaughters, Cindy, Bonnie and Kathy; one brother. Frank of San Diego, California and one sister Marguerite McGlennon. Mr. Larone was predeceased by his first wife. the former Nora Jackett; one brother Maurice of Toronto and one sister Theresa Daly of Peterborough. The remains rested at the R.S. Box Funeral Home, Seaforth and a funeral service was held in St. Thomas Anglican Church on Friday, July 20 conducted by Rev. Robt. J. Crocker. rector of St. Georg Anglican Church, Goderich. Interment fol- lowed in Maitlandbank Cemetery. Memorial services were held Thursday evening by Britannia Lodge #170 at 8 p.m. and by Seaforth Lions Club at 9 p.m. Donations to the Canadian -Cancer Society were appreciated as expressions of sym- pathy. Pallbearers were D.1. Stewart, Gar Baker, Wes Coombs, Fred Tilley, Frank Phillips and Robert Dalton. Flowerbearers were J.C. Crich, William Wier. Jas. A. Stewart. Lapslie Smith, D. Sills and G.A. Wright. GARNET McCIUNCHEY Garnet John McClinchey of Seaforth died in University Hospital. London as a result of a car accident on Friday. July 20, He was 76. Mr. McClinchey was a life member of Britannia Lodge No. 170 AF & AM, Seaforth. A memorial service was held by the lodge on Monday evening. Surviving besides his wife the former Agnes Adams, are two daughters. Maybeile. Mrs. Ian Crockwill of Bermuda; Dorothy. Mrs. Keith MacDonald of Edmonton; six sons, Bev of Bayfield; Keith of Seaforth; Jack of Calgary; Bill of Loadon; Grant of Hensall; Donnie of Winnipeg; 29 grand• children and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Jim and Saddle McClinchey; one daughter Betty Scott; one grandson Charlie Scott; two sisters, Irene Jinks; Lois Timmey and one brother Edgar of Hensall. Resting at the R.S. Box Funeral Home, Seaforth. funeral service was held at St. Thomas Anglican Church. Seaforth on Tuesday. July 24. Cremation in Parkview Crematoria. Waterloo.
