The Huron County Pioneer Museum
sponsoring a 'What Is It?' Contest.
In today's paper and the August 1st
edition, photographs of two different artifacts
from the museum will be featured. Readers
are asked to identify and describe the use of
these artifacts and should send their written
entries to the Museum at 110 North Street,
Goderich,- 2T8 by noon August 8
is
(Museum staff and their families are not
eligible).
Winners of the three best entries will be
awarded prizes at the official opening of the
Huron County Pioneer Museum Craft Festi-
val at 3 p.m. August 11. The Festival is being
held August 11 and 12 from 11 a.m. until,5
p.m.
Janmaat/Van
Fifty attended the first annual Janmaat-
Van Dyk reunion held at the home of John
and Mary Janmaat in Harpurhey on July 15.
Children's games were held. The first gift
unwrapping was won by Robbie Janmaat.
Thesack races were won by Tammy Janmaat
and Jason Henderson, second. Kimmy
Janmaat and Kelly Muir won the running
races.
To reward all the kids for their efforts, a
strawfind was then held where each of the
children had to searoh through a straw pile
to claim their prize each labelled with their
own names.
A three-legged race was held for adults.
Connie Marion and Ken Janmaat were the
winners of the golden cup.
Glanville family
The 32nd annual Glanville reunion was
held at Seaforth Lions Park with about 70 in
attendance.
Charles Hayden is the president for 1985;
secretary -treasurer, Karleen Glanville and
the sports committee will be Doreen
McRoberts. President for 1986 is Gordon
Miller and secretary -treasurer is Lorna
Finkbeiner.
Youngest baby was Daniel Wm. Grant;
oldest person, great grandma Violet Pearson;
who came farthest. Alex and Gail Glanville,
Melfort, Sask.; couple married longest, Clara
and Orville Cooper, 47 years.
Games and races: running race, three and
under, Melissa Glanville; 4 and 5, Karen
Bissonnette; 7. Jeremy Bissonnette; 8 and 9 -

Dyk reunion
Ron Janmaat and Kevin Henderson won
the water balloon throw. Jennifer Marion
and Tracy Muir were the winners of the
children's throw.
A 2 -pitch ball game was played at the
Optimist Park. After six innings, Janmaat's
were winning 7-6. Van Dyk's won the game
after seven innings 9-7.
After supper, the energetic guys had a
match of tug-of-war.
Chris Johnson was the winner of a doodle
pad and pencils and Chris Marion won a
t -shirt, compliments of Danny Muir.
A raffle was held for a lawnchair which
was won by Mary Janmaat. A birthday cake
was also cut to celebrate John Janmaat Sr.
and Joan Janmaat's birthday. Next year the
reunion will be held on Sunday, July 21.

Russell Piper of Seaforth struck luck twice
with the same Wintario ticket last week.
Besides winning S50 in the scramble prize, he
also won a free book of tickets in the winfall.
Mr. Piper has purchased the tickets each
week since the draw first started and in those
years has won six times. "My largest prize
was 5100. but I've also won about 25 free
books of tickets," he says.
"I buy a book of tickets each week. But I'm
still waiting to win the big prize."

Broadfoot clan has celebration
WILKINSONI I am Craig Raymond, born on
July 19. weighing 9 lbs. 4 ozs. Proud parents
are Chuck and Cheryl Baley. A brother for
Danny.
GATEYI Barry and Cindy (nee Dorssers) are
happy to announce the birth of their
daughter. Laura Joanne, on July 12, at St.
Joseph's Hospital, London. A little sister for
David.
Over 450 members of the Broadfoot Clan
gathered in Seaforth on June 30 and Jply 1, to
celebrate the 150th anniversary of the
Broadfoot settlement In Huron County.
Descendants of the Broadfoots came from all
points in Canada and the United States from
as far as Alaska, to celebrate the occasion.
Relatives met, some for the first time.
Broadfoot historical artifacts were displayed
and ancestoral farms were visited.
The highlight of the Saturday activities was
the banquet. The evening program consisted
of music, poetry, and dancing. The draw for
the water color of "The Mains" farm, painted
by Neil Broadfoot of Peterborough, was won
by Les Broadfoot of Stratford.
The prize for the oldest member present,
went to Annie Broadfoot of Clinton, The prize
for the youngest member went to Jonathan
MacMartin of New Hampshire, U.S.A. who

Severson of Anchorage, Alaska took the prize
for the fmily who came the longest, distance.
A quilt, made by several ladies of the
Broadfoot Clan was auctioned off, and the
lucky purchaser was Mrs. Marjorie "Mike"
Broadfoot of the Mill Road in Brucefield.
On Sunday morning, the Broadfoot Clan
joined with the ' congregation of First
Presbyterian Church for the morning wor-
ship. John DeJeger sang two solos, and Peter
Malcolm played "Amazing Grace" on the
bagpipes. Rev. James , Broadfoot of Col-
chester, Ontario was the guest speaker.
Memorial flowers for the service were given
by the children of James and Agnes
Broadfoot.
Following the church service, the Broad -
foot Clan moved to Harpurhey Cemetery,
where a cairn marking the 150th anniversary
and honoring that pioneer family, was
dedicated by Rev. James Vanslyke.
The tribute paid to Sarah Broadfoot and her
five children who came from Scotland, is now
history, and the future descendants off
Broadfoots can now look forward to celebrat-
ing the next anniversary in 2034, which will
be the Bicentennial.
Williamson reunion
The Williamson family reunion was held
July 8 at the home of Jim and Brenda
Kitching in Stratford with 68 in attendance.
A program of games was conducted by -
Shirley Laverty, Dianne McGrath and
Sharon McGrath for the children.
A silver dollar was given to the newest
baby Brandi Williamson, daughter of -Wayne
and Linda Williamson, Walton, Prizes were
given to all the children who took part in the
sports.
The election of officers for 1985 was held
with the following elected: President, Albert
Hutton; vice president. Maurice Nesbitt;
treasurer, Russel Jervis; secretary, Connie
Nesbitt; sports, Chris Smith and Carol Anne
Williamson.
The 1985 reunion will be held in Atwood
on the second Sunday in July at the home of
Olive Clarke and Bert and Minnie Clarke.
