WOMEN'S INSTITUTE NEWS The Majestic Women's Institute of Brus• sels held their picnic on Wednesday July 11 at the home of Doris McCall. Peggy Cudmore presided over a short business period. It was decided to reimburse John Cousins for the use of his store for "Drop -in -centre" during the Bicentennial week. Mrs. Cudmore thanked all who helped out with the celebrations. Marie McTaggart, Mrs, Alex McLeod and Peggy Cudmore are a committee in charge of finding a candidate to sponsor for the Queen of the Fair Contest. Anyone who can give lodging and break• fast to Institute members who will be attending the Area Convention to be held in Brussels on Oct. 18 are Asked to contact Doris McCall. A 5400 special fund was set up'to be used to purchase a piano for the library. Anyone knowing of a good used piano for sale to get in touch with Mrs. Lyle Brothers. Ruby Steiss had charge of the contests assisted by Leona Armstrong. Winners of the contests were Laura Lucas, Mrs, Cecil Moore, Ethel Long, Leona Connelly and Peggy Cudmore. The next meeting will be held on Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. Everyone is to be sure and bring their handbook. TAPE CALLS The Brussels Fire Department has purch- ased a tape recorder that will tape any incoming calls on the Brussels Fire -Phone Line.
