At a recent Meeting held in Londesboro, federation members decided to draw up a petition seeking, support from Huron County businesses who are equally affected by the tight position farmers and the agricultural industry is in today. "The whole community is affected," said Tony McQuail, president of the Huron Federation. "When farmers have money, ' they buy from the local businesses." The petition will be presented at a meeting between the Qntario Federation of Agriculture and Minister of Agriculture Dennis Timhrell. Revamping the Ontario Farm Adjustment Assistance Program, and pro- viding a fixed interest rate at a level the farming industry could afford, are two other policies .the governments should consider. These ideas were forwarded to the Ontario Federation of Agriculture. OFA President Harry Pellisero and OFA Executive Director Harry Zwerver met with Mr, Timbrell prior to the budget being brought down, expressing these and other concerns brought to them from other counties. Hibbert; Dublin will hold fun -filled Bicentennial BY JOAN CRONiN There is going to be a party and what a party! Everybody is more than welcome when the Hibbert Township and the Village of Dublin celebrate the bicentennial of Ontario on Saturday July 21 in Dublin. The festivities will begin at noon with a parade with floats, bands, horses and cars. Parade guests will be the Queen of the Furrow, Susan Cook; Dairy Princess, Carol Scade, and the Junior Farmer Princess, Ms. Knechtel. The Seaforth Girls Band and the Legion Band will be in the parade as well as entertain at the park grounds during the afternoon. There will also be Ernie Aliens Steam Tractor and Roger Dow and the Mitchell Pioneer Club. Bob Carbet will be the guest speaker at 2 p.m. and will be joined on the stage by Bill Jarvis, Hugh Edighoffer, Glen Coughlin. warden of Perth and reeve of Elma Township: Dr. Harry Brightwell, conservative nominee, Brian Innes, liberal nominee. There will be a memorabilia exhibit in the St. Patrick's School Gym with exhibits from the Goderich Museum, the Strattord Ar- chives, the Staffa Women's institute and the Dublin Catholic Women's League. There will be a dance in the vening plus a show by the Leprechauns. an Irish Show Band. Dance tickets are $3 in advance or $4 at the door. The barbecue tickets are Adults $6 at the door or $5.50 in advance and children under 12 are $3. Tickets are available at the clerk's office, from any council or trustee member, and from the Athletic Association or Lions Club member. There will be entertainment throughout the day with a ventriloquist, a magician, country music and folk songs by Bob Burchill and also Old Tyme Fiddle Music. - For the youngsters, there is a mini pedal tractor pull. Profits from the events will be shared by the various groups and service clubs in Hibbert Township. The guest speaker for the evening will be Lloyd Wilson of Uxbridge. The meal to feed the 200 people will feature Perth agricultural products. The Mitchell area woman, besides organiz- ing the banquet, has been put in charge of a bus tour for the spouses of the directors. Following the banquet and guest speaker, the local federation will be holding a cake -cutting ceremony in its hospitality room in the hotel. Past federation president Clayton Bender of Gowanstown and other past presidents including immediate past president Ron Christie of RR 2, Staffa will attend the ceremony.
