Centenaires win two
The Seaforth Junior D Centenaires were
unbeaten in three games in the past week,
scoring two victories in a home and home
series with the Clinton Mustangs and battling
the Lucan Irish to a four -all tie on home ice,
The first win came Tuesday, November 12,
with the Centenaires at home to the
Mustangs. Seaforth trailed 2-1 after the first
period. Dave Murray scored the Centenaire
goal, a powerplay marker, assisted by Jerry
Wright and Rob Core. The second Clinton
goal was a short-handed effort by Mustang's
Dean Armstrong.
The teams traded goals in the second
frame. Mike Betties netted the Centenaire
marker, just 54 seconds into the period,
assisted by Jim Campbell and Dave Murray.
The Centenaires exploded for six goals in
the final 20 minutes, while Clinton scored
only once, to make the final score 8-4. Kevin
Melady, with two goals and Bill Dale, Jim
Campbell, Mike Betties and Dave Murray,
with one each, scored third period goals for
Seaforth. Betties and Murray scored on the
power play, while Campbell's goal came with
the Centenaires short-handed.
TIED LUCAN
Seaforth rallied with two goals in the third
period, to overcome a two -goal deficit and
salvage a 4-4 tie with Lucan, at home on
Friday, November 15.
Dave Murray gave the Centenaires a
one -goal edge in first -period scoring, when
he finished off a passing play with Jerry
Wright and Tom Turner.
Seaforth went up by two goals, when
Murray scored again, just one minute into the
second frame. Campbell and Wright drew
assists. Lucan took over the play for the rest
of the second period, scoring four goals, as
they blasted 20 shots at Centenaire netmind-
er Keith McClure, who faced a total of 48
shots in the game. Seaforth tested Lucan
goaltender Brent Fowles a total of 42 times
through the contest.
Kevin Melady scored both third -period
goals to bring the Centenaires even. Murray
assisted on both, giving him a point on every
Centenaire tally. Wright, also assisted on one
of Melady's goals.
WIN OVER CLINTON
Jim Campbell and Jerry Wright led the
way to a 5-3 win over Clinton, in Clinton on
Sunday, November 17, with three points by
Wright and four by Campbell in the game.
Kevin Melady opened the scoring after
only 45 seconds had elapsed, with Wright and
Mark Stapleton assisting. Rob Core sent
Seaforth to the dressing room with a two goal
lead after 20 minutes, when he scored a
power play goal, assisted by W right and
Campbell.
Both teams scored twice in the second
period, with Campbell and Dave Murray
hitting the twine. Murray and Stapleton
assisted on Campbell's goal and Campbell
and Core assisted on Murray's.
The teams traded single goals in the third
frame. Campbell converted a pass from
Wright for the Seaforth marker.
Derek Cooper faced 34 shots in the
Centenaire cage.
Pee Wees stretch winning streak
The Seaforth Pee W ees continued their
winning streak by defeating Arthur on
November 11 by a score of 8-5. They also
defeated Drayton 10-1 on Saturday.
In Arthur at the end of the second period
Seaforth was leading 6.3. in the third the
scoring bounced back and forth with each
team getting two apiece, A total of 13
penalties were called in this game.
Scoring for Seaforth were Brian Cook with
a hat trick, Brent van den Akker with two and
singles going to Jason McNichol, Jason
Papple and Karsten Carroll.
Drawing assists were Ray Murray with
four, Jason Schoonderwoerd and Brent van
den Akker each with two and Jason Horan,
Paul McElwain and Mike Murray each with
one.
In the game on Saturday against Drayton
Seaforth opened the scoring at the 14 :13 marl'.
only to h ave Drayton come back two minutes
later and tie it up. Seaforth went ahead six
minutes later and dominated the game from
then on. Seaforth scored three goals in the
first period, three in the second and four
goals in the third.
Scoring were Ray Murray with a hat trick
and getting one apiece were Ted Sills, Jason

Gemmell, Ray Murray, Ted Sills and Jason

Novices edge Hanover 4-3
The Seaforth Novice hockey team recorded
a close 4-3 for their first game of the year.
They played an exhibition game against
Hanover.
Putting Seaforth on the scoreboard first
was Mike Weber with an assist to Joe Murray.
Joe Murray then put Seaforth ahead 2
nothing with a breakaway goal. The third and
fourth goals went to Mike Watt assisted by
Dean Finnigan and Brad Moore. Mike
Moylan was in goal stopping numerous shots
On Saturday, November 16 the Novice
played their first home game and season
opener with a 13-0 romp over Blyth. Scoring
for Seaforth was Mike Devereaux with 3
goals, 2 assists, Mike Weber 2 goals, 1 assist,
Mike Watt, 3 goals, Joe Murray 2 goals and
3 assists, Justin Rodney I goal and 1 assist,
Patrick Cook, 1 goal and assists also went to
Jim Crowley, Wayne Schoonderwoerd, Jeff
Flannigan, Jeff Ryan, Steve Mclnally, Dean
Finnigan and Harold Hugill.
Ringette streak is snapped
The Seaforth Junior Belles Ringette team
recorded their first loss Sunday. 6-4 to Huron
Park.
. The girls did a good job and were working
hard in the second period, but ran out of time.
Shelly O'Brien was the netminder for this
game and gave a good showing,
Goal scorers for the game were: Tanury
Nash and Tracy Fbrtune each with two.
Assists went to Tracey Sills and Shelly Nigh
each with one.
