The Huron Expositor, 1985-11-06, Page 21Microwave oven won in Hensall Hensall Correspondent VEIMA ROBINSON 262-3205 A draw for a Litton -Moffat Microwave Oven at Drysdale Major Appliance Store in Hensall was held Tuesday evening at a microwave cooking school, The lucky winner was Helen Mallett of Crediton. The draw for an automatic washer will be held on November 26 and a draw 'for a dishwasher on December 24. This is to help celebrate their 40th anniversary selling appliances in the village of Hensall. BAZAARAND TEA Carmel Presbyterian Church Bazaar and Tea was held on Saturday. The door prize was won -by Greta Grater of Exeter. The Presbyterian Church Women are meeting on November 11 at 8 p.m. in the church basement. Thea W isch will be giving a flower demonstration. Rev. Ken Knight gave the service at Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday. Dorothy Taylor played the organ for the .hymns. The flowers in the church were placed • in loving memory of Marguerite "Bonnie" Bonthron, RETIREMENT PLANS The planning committee for Robert Rea - burn Retirement Party met on Wednesday and is planning an open house at Hensall Public School for Sunday, January 12, 1986 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Area people will be notified of this date by newspaper ads. It is hoped they will keep the date open so as many as possible may attend. We hope former students who are no longer in the area will be contacted by their families so they may attend. FUN NIGHT The Hensall Kinettes are hosting Ladies Fun Night November8, 9 to 1 a.m. at Hensall Community Centre. There are lots of prizes to be won and all sorts of entertainment. All proceeds go to community work. Tickets available from any Hensall Kinette or call 262-3241 or 262-2438. A bus with 53 friends and relatives, plus more cars travelled to Ridgetown to help Dorothy and Garnet Mousseau celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary on Sunday. A lovely buffet was enjoyed at Bateman's Inn in Ridgetown. YOUTH FORCHRIST South Huron Youth for Christ held their November Rally Saturday in Brucefield School with around 225 in attendance. Director Ron Westlake was in charge. He opened the rally with prayer followed by a number of choruses. Pianist was Sharon Parker. Quizzing time followed. Teams from Zurich, Bayfield, Clinton and Exeter partici- pated with Zurich scoring highest. Robert Steckle is Quizzing Master. Ron Westlake was in charge of the electronic system and Evelyn Steckle and Edgar Cudmore in charge of score sheets, They were quizzing on • Proverbs Chapter 1. In December they will study Proverbs Chapter 2. Bob Heywood then brought a package of choruses and songs accompanied with accordian. Ron then made announcements for the coming months. December? Rev, Larry Marshall, Pastor of United Church at Shallow Lake will minister in word and singing. January 4 will be talent night from the area churches. Also the winter snow camp in February at Circle C Ranch in Delevan, New York with Rev. Wes Aarum, Camp Director. The plans now call for at least one bus and maybe two buses going with teenagers and chaperones. The film "Never Ashamed" was shown. John Gower of Goderich closed the rally with prayer. On Monday, October 28, residents enjoyed an afternoon of bingo. Audrey Christee and Kay Elder put on the bingo. On Monday evening, the Bethel Bible Club entertained several of residents with hymns. Everyone was encouraged to sing along. It was a lot of fun. On Tuesday, Shirley Lather conducted the church service. All who attended enjoyed the service. Shirley also played the piano for the hymns. On Wednesday afternoon, nine residents went bowling at Town and Country Bowling Lanes in Zurich. It was lots of fun and good exercise. Ladies high was bowled by a first time bowler, Ethel Alexander. Resi- dents got to visit with witches, devils, cowboys and even a giant strawberry. The Nursery School also presented residents with a jack -o -lantern. After modelling their costumes the children were served cup cakes with cat faces and juice. Neil Regan handed out candy to the children for the Nursing Home and Myrtle Rodd handed out the candy for the Rest Home. On Thursday afternoon residents saw two • films which were both quite humorous. They were, the Three Stooges andForeign rLegion. dents On Friday, the Nursing Home enjoyed music with their lunch once again as Lorne Johnston, from the Rest Home played his violin in the dining room.
