4-H REPORT

The "Grandma's Followers" have been
baking up a storm at recent 4-H meetings.

Cronin. Mrs. Cronin was presented with a
gift by the club president for her help with
the cakes.
On October 10 the "Followers" made
peanut butter cupcakes and a chocolate
cake. They tasted the cupcakes and Mary
Maloney won the chocolate cake in a draw.
On October 3 the "Followers" decided on

LEGION
,N., NEWS
At the general meeting of the Branch last
Thursday we did not out -do our Ladies
Auxiliary. We only had 18 members present
which is a very poor showing. Why Legion
meetings are so low on members priorities is
rather difficult to define. You belong to one
of the largest organizations in the Dominion
of Canada. An organization totally commit-
ted to the present day welfare of the veteran
and his spouse and by far has been
responsible for Government pensions than
any country of the world, not to mention
their commitment to the community as a
whole. Let's give it a little more thought in
the future Comrades.
Plans for the week of November 11 were
discussed and much' the/ same format as
other years will be used again. The Poppy
drive will be held Sunday, November 3 in the
afternoon — weather permitting. Canvas-
sers will please meet at the Branch at 1:30
p.m. (The time is uncertain as yet). if we all
show up the town could be canvassed in less
than two hours. Comrade Gordon Beutten-
miller will have more next week on the
subject. On Saturday, November 9, the
Veteran's Banquet will be held at the Legion
Hall. Tickets are now on sale and everyone's
name is on somebody's list to contact. If by
chance your name is missed, tickets can be
bought at the Legion. Please don't wait till
the last minute to get yours. The Ladies
would like to know how many are going to be
present a few days in advance.
On Sunday, November 10 our annual
Church parade will be held. Parade will form
up at 10:30 a.m. at the Legion and march to
the United Church for the Remembrance
service. On Remembrance Day November 11
a parade will be held. We will have more on
this next week. If the weather is too severe
the service will be held in the Legion Hall. in
the evening a potluck supper will be held for
members and their guests.
The Provincial Service Officer will be at
the Branch on October 29. Anyone wishing
an interview please contact our local Service
Officer Cleave Coombs for an appointment.
if any veteran or widows are in doubt as to
what they are entitled too, this is your
opportunity to find out.
On behalf of the members I would like to
take this opportunity to offer our sympathies
to the McGrath family in their loss of a
brother-in-law Joseph Norman Smith. To his
wife and family we regret their less of a
husband and father. Branch 156 held a
Legion service Sunday, October 13.
They grow not old as we that are left grow
old. Age shall not weary them nor the years
condemn. At the going down of the sun and
in the morning we will remember them.
-Gordon Scott, P.RO.
