Barb Fotheringham read the minutes. Mrs. Predhomme showed the group different decorated designs and explained the various styles and sizes of tips for icing the cake. Next she decorated her cake with the 4-H crest. The colors that she used were the crest colors. The group then decorated their own cakes, which each baked at home prior to the meeting. There are 13 members in our "Kippen Kitchen Kuties" and the leaders are Joyce Wilson and Eileen Townsend. K IPPEN UNITED CHURCH NEW S St. Andrew's, at Kippen celebrated their Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, October 13. Barbara Cooper accompanied the hymns at the organ and led the choir in the Ministry of Musie. The Rev. Lorne Keays based her KIPPEN sermon on "Why have we got What. we Have?" Next Sunday, October 20 at 11 a.m. is Kippen's Anniversary Service. Special music is being prepared. Rev. Keays will preach the sermon. Lunch will be served after the service. Everyone is invited. Kippen's annual Fall Supper will be held on Wednesday, November 13 in Brucefield Church Hall. PERSONAL The sympathy of the community is extended to Babe, Jim and Grant McGregor and their families on the death of 'Bob McGregor on Sunday, October 13. Bob along with his wife Babe had lived, and fanned in Kippen area for many years and had recently retired to Hensall last year. HENSALL AND AREA Church group decorates cake Hensall Correspondent MRS. BERTHA MacGREGOR 262-2025 The PCW of Carmel Presbyterian Church held their October meeting at the Ferguson Aparies on Monday evening with the President Margaret Hoggarth presiding. She opened the program with a poem on "Thanksgiving" followed by prayer and gave an interesting message on "Harvest" taken from Genesis 8 verse 22. The offering was taken and dedicated by Marg Hoggarth, Marlene Bell gave the treasurer's report. The thank offering meet- ing will be held at Fist Presbyterian Church Seaforth on October 24 at 2 p.m. The annual Bazaar will be held on November 2, at 2 p.m. The November meeting will be held on November 4th with a special speaker on Christmas flower decorating, everyone is welcome and invited to bring a friend. Mrs. Ferguson gave an interesting demonstration on cake decorating, followed by a slide presentation on bees and her work with them. Marg Hoggarth and Marlene Bell thanked the hostess. GENERAL MEETING The General meeting of the Hensall United Church W omen was held on Monday evening October 7. The President Belva Fuss opened the meeting with a Thanksgiving poem. Elva Forrest was in charge of the devotions. Shirley Luther gave the message on Thankfulness, taking her theme from Deut. 8, 6-20. W e should give thanks and praise for all God's good gifts. HENSALL The Sunday School's Bake Sale is October 19 at 11 a.m. A bale will be packed November 5. The UCW will be entertaining November 4, the speaker being Jean Bennett about hertrip to Mexico. Church calendars will be sold by UCW . At Egmondville October 28 at 7 p.m. the speaker will be an exchange visitor to Korea. The bazaar will be November 21 at 3 p.m. The Christain Development Convenor very ably spoke on Christain development, begin- ning as children and growing in Christ in love. SENIORS MEET The President, Mrs. Aldeen Volland, presided for the October meeting of the Three links Seniors on Tuesday evening. 0 Canada was sung with Hilda Payne at the piano followed by the Lord's Prayer in unison. A moment's silence was observed in memory of Susan Purdy. The Zone Rally will be held at the Stanley Complex, Varna October, 17, registration from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Price $2.00. Entertainment from 2 - 4 p.m. An invitation was received to bowl at the Zurich Bowling lanes on Thursday after- noons. Dorothy BrintneU gave the treasurer's report. A bake sale and also a bus trip were discussed. The November meeting will be organized by Evelyn McBeath, Ruby Bell, Hilda and Carl Payne: Euchre was played with the following prize winners: ladies high - Gertie Moir, ladies low, Edith Bell, gent's high, Pearl Taylor, law - Myrtle Shirray, Lane hands - Mrs. D iekert, nearest birthday - Nellie Riley. PRESENTATION A most enjoyable evening was spent in the Fellowship Hall of Hensall United Church on Wednesday, when the neighbors on the Main Street block assembled to bid farewell to three couples who were taking up residence in various places. The Smith's, to Exeter; the Shirrays, to Tavistock and the Bardawills, to London. Bob Reabum acted as Master of Cermonies for the evening, after a number of well chosen expressions gifts were presented as follows: Mary Kinsman presented a gift to the Bardawill's, Sheila Reabum presented Bill and Jean Smith with a gift and Karen Dickins presented Doug and Karen Shirray with a gift. All expressed a sincere thank you for a pleasant evening and gifts. PEOPLE Mrs. Hazel Corbett spent the Thanksgiv- ing weekend with her daughter and son-in- law Mr. and Mrs. Bob Chaffe and family, at Mitchell. Sgt. Doug Wein RCMP of Ottawa visited on the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parker. Mrs. Bertha MacGregor was a visitor over the Thanksgiving holiday with her son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Don Maclaren and Jodi and Brooke in Oakville. Clinton to hast healthcare seminar The Clinton Town Hall will be the site for a public forum to discuss Huron County healthcare planning, October 23. The 8 p.m. meeting, sponsored by the Huron County Community Services Council, is the result of a series of Council discussions related to the coordination of health services. Invitations have been extended to muni- cipal councils, health agencies, the medical profession as well as the general public. Bob Dempsey, C'IQderich, long associated with the Board of the Goderich Alexandra & Marine General Hospital, will present an overview of health planning in Huron County. Prof. Brian Sullivan, Urban Planning Department, Uni- versity of Guelph and associate professor from McMaster University, Hamilton, will present a summary of planning strategies as used across the Province of Ontario, to coordinate health services delivery. Also in attendance will be Jim Bain, Ministry of Health Coordinator for Southwestern Ontario District Health Councils. The participants at the meeting will be asked for their opinions about the need for additional coordination of planning in Huron County. The Community Services Council intends to use the. forum as a means of determining whether the Minister of Health, Murray Elston, MPP, Huron -Bruce will be asked to appoint a steering committee to formally undertake a study of health planning needs in Huron County. A similar committee, which reported in 1975, rejected the concept of a District Health Council by a narrow 8-7 vote. The Council is anxious to determine whether planning needs have changed in the intervening 10 year period. It is hoped that a broad representation from health agencies and the general public will participate in the October 23 meeting.
