BETTY Mee ALL 887-6877 Approximately 100 people attended the benefit party for Dave and Dianne Baan and John and Mary Baan of RR 3, Walton who both lost their barns to fire recently. Guests spent the evening playing euchre and crokinole along with the odd one of lost heir. Keith Williamson read a short address and he and Henry Grobbink made a presentation of a gift of money, Lunch served by the ladies in charge brought the social evening to a dose. Martin and Kathryn Baan have had guests from Holland who also attended the social evening in the Walton Hall on Friday night. ABOUT PEOPLE Isabelle Shortreed spent last Thursday with Bill and Louise Smith of Mitchell. Ruth Thamer spent the weekend with John and Kim Thamer in Kitchener. Ethel and Margaret Mills of W indthorse, Saskatchewan spent a few days recently with Harvey and Margaret Craig on their way to Nova Scotia. Viola Kirkby spent the weekend with her niece in Ancaster. Those present were some of the members of the former Young People's at Duff's Church when Rev. Hazlewood was minister. They were Bruce and Shirley (Bennett) Walters of Hanover; Doug and Marjorie Fraser; lan and Elva Wilbee and Bill and Marie Coutts all of this area. We welcome Doug and Janet and son Robbie to our nineth line and community as they have moved into the house formerly owned by Charlie Murray, The Weisbrods from the village left last Wednesday for their new home in British Columbia. Walton resident attends show McKillop Correspondent MRS. IDELA REGELE 527-1106 Joy McCowan of RR 4, Walton recently spent three days at the American Saddle bred horse show held at the Michigan State Farm fairgrounds. There were 26 Canadians there with 16 show horses. The Canadian entries came home with 20 ribbons. The McKillop bred colt was reserve champion. Magnificent Event, a three month old colt by the Real McCoy and out of the Stonewall's Main Event mare Main Theme was reserve weanling foal in the 1985 weanling futurity foal class, shown by an amateur. The foal was shown against nine top American bred foals up to the age of nine months. His placing came after only three weeks of working with him for the show. The foal was bred by Mrs. McCowan and at the age of three weeks was purchased by Mike and Kathy Ferguson of Parkway Stables of RR 1, Alma. His sire, now a four-year-old, was purchased as a yearling at the July sales in Lexington, Kentucky and his dam was purchased as a five-year-old by Mrs. McCowan from Lexington, Kentucky. His dam is booked to the "Real McCoy" for 1986 season. Mrs. McCowan also has a seven-year-old Indiana bred mare leased to the Fergusons, who is due to foal in January to "The Real McCoy". The mare will then be bred back to "McCoy" in April 1986 and returned in foal to Mrs. McCowan. Mrs. Harold McCallum, Mrs. Paul McCal- lum, Cindy, Colleen, and Kenny of RR 1, Walton, Norman Hubley, Idella Regele of Seaforth and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hartman of Bayfield, Carl McCallum and friend Tara of Seaforth spent Sunday afternoon and evening with Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hartman of RR1, Hayfield. • Mrs. Harold McCallum of RR 1, Walton Sworn in visited with her daughter Mrs. Wayne Hartman and Mr. Hartman at Bayfield on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Al Reiv of Calgary, Alberta visited at the home of Norman Hubley and Idella Regele at Seaforth one day last week.
